I think that its impressive. Your super high elevation / da of 10k+ should reduce your octane requirement to a degree.

This broke my record. No popping sound, no limp mode. I had e20-e30 in the tank during this pull. Tune had not been adjusted since the last time I tried. I am not positive but that was either spark blowout I was hearing or knock. Either way, this proves that increasing octane makes the issue go away. What are y’all’s thoughts? View attachment 204545

I don't have e-85 close to me, but I usually fill up multiple 5 gallon cans and a 30 gallon tank (with hand pump meant for filling boats etc) when I make the 2 hour trip for more. I'm still on the stock injectors, so I am limited to the qty of E in my blend. It does quite well around E30.

Are you anywhere near Telluride? I'm head over there in September for an elk hunt.

I’ve thought about doing that. It’s about a 1.5 hour trip to e85 for me.
I am about 3 hours south of telluride in Pagosa Springs

Little update.

Im going to get 6, 5 gallon gas cans and fill them up with e85 at the station that is 1.5 hours away from me. Then I will put 10 gallons of e85 in and that will last me a month and a half before I have to go get more. 10 gallons of e85 will give me an e30 mixture.

Also, I’m in a Ram Hurricane group on Facebook and I think one of the reasons those trucks are so quick off the line is the fact that the inline 6 is torquey, and the guys getting 3.6 0-60 have 3.92 gearing. I have seen what they do on the top end and it lacks a bit compared to the Ecoboost v6. Also from what I’ve seen, the Hurricane turbos’ turbine is pretty stinking small, and has a lot of blades. That equals quick spool, and not to mention that they are running 20+ psi of boost. The Ecoboost doesn’t run as quick 0-60 stock vs stock, but the 3.5 stock has bigger turbos, and runs 14-15 psi of boost, and that number is peak, down low. Up in high rpm’s the Ecoboost lets boost fall down. Not sure what the hurricane boost curve looks like but I doubt it falls as much.

So is it 10 gallons of E-85 mixed with 10 gallons of 93 =E-30?

For perspective, Ram’s HO Hurricane makes considerably more power and torque in its debut version than the S58 does (or states it does) in the BMW M3/4 Competition after all these years of revising and refining.

Both are said to be able to be turned up to 1,000 HP on stock internals and there are plenty of the BMW engines doing just that. Never heard of it in the real world for the hurricanes yet.

Either Ram came out swinging or there are going to be a lot of Hurricanes popping soon.

Also a lot of that launch advantage likely stems from the ZF 8 speed transmission too. The same trans in pretty much every vehicle with diabolical stat sheets & a torque converter.

I’m guessing your first tank you mix will be a guess on how close you will come to e30 as you won’t know exactly how much gas is in the tank?
Yeah kinda. @TOWMA8R knows how to get it perfect

Oops I meant does 10 gallons of E-85 mixed with 10 gallons of 93 make E-30?

no, thats 20 gallons of total, presuming your e85 is actually e85, 5 1/2 gal of e85 with 14 1/5 gal of 91/93 nets you pretty much e30. a 10 gal to 10 gal ratio of e85 and 91/93 will get you e47/48

if you have a fresh tank 36 gal of 91/93 and you are filling your tank up, put 10 gal of e85 in for the first time and the remaining 26 gal of gas is 91/93, nets you e30

Once you have e30 blend established, at a 1/4 tank, or 25% according to the ford pass app, put 7 gallons in of e85 and then top off the rest with 91/93 will net you e30 plus of minus a small % depending on your e85 content (my local station always sits roughly at e82

I use a bottle tester for the content from amazon when testing either the e85 from the pump or my tank and a simple test kit, process to get the exact ethanol percentage right from the trucks tank in less than 2 min to test total ethanol after the fill up....

the ford pass app, % of fuel in tank and a app off the phone has been 98% accurate for the past 3 years ......... only variance is if I go too many fill ups without testing the e85 content at the pump, will throw you off 1-5% plus or minus.

Good info. I never measured my ethanol percent when I was in Denver. I did have the innovate gauge though. All I did was use a website to calculate the fuel level percent that the tank was at (I always guessed off the truck’s gas gauge, figuring halfway was 55% since there’s about 3 gallons left when the gauge is at zero. Wherever it was I would add a few percent because of that.) then put in what the existing fuel ethanol percent was. Then you put in what your pump e85 content is. Then the desired content you want in the tank ie., e30, e50 or whatever and it would tell you how much e85 to add and how much 91 to add. My calculations were always a guess but on my ethanol gauge it was always e48-e52

Truck looked amazing today so I snapped a picture.

Also I went to Farmington and picked up 30 gallons of e85. This will last me 3 whole tanks. Usually one tank lasts me two weeks. So this should last me a month and a half.

Beautiful truck! Now, about those inside wheel barrels. One of my little pet peeves. Horrible on my Exploder's black wheels.
