Mechanic Hates EcoBoost for Towing?

Couple things with the 2014 in particular:

1. The exhaust manifolds in the 2011-2016 3.5L trucks are known to warp and this is even more true if you are towing hard. It was bad enough that multiple aftermarket companies came up with beefier manifolds and Ford has finally come out with updated/redesigned manifolds within the last year or so.

2. If you are pulling in extreme environments(high elevation and high temps mainly), you can overwhelm the cooling system and overheat the engine on climbs. This is particularly true for trucks from 2011-2014 as they had a smaller radiator. Additionally, yours does not have the max tow package and so it does not come with the largest radiator available. 2015-2017 trucks have a bigger radiator, and 2018+ have an even bigger radiator but can still get warm if pushed.

Other than that, they pull really hard. If you don't think you will be pulling high elevation mountain passes in the summer then I don't think you will have an issue at all.

The guy I sold my Jeep to told me he refused to buy an F-150 because of some bad experience his neighbor's cousin's brother's wife's coworker's husband's best friend had. Instead he preferred Dodge. Funny thing is he became more motivated to buy my Jeep at my price because his wife's Ram broke down again and they needed a vehicle now.
This is why I dont like brand loyalty. Regardless of whether its for Ford, Ram Chevy, Toyota, etc. You'll probably get screwed by one of them at some point.
