My 2013 developed a knock a few months ago and I immediately parked the truck and began researching and buying parts to make the repairs. I have cam phasers, actuators, and timing chain kit all from cloyes. I began disassembly and when I removed the actuators on the left side they both had metal shavings on them. Anyone else have this same problem? And what else should I check for before installing the new parts. I have already ordered a new oil pump with a higher flow rate.

If you're sure it's from the phasers/related hardware, yeah, so it. The knock is probably going to remain after the timing job.
