Diode Dynamics is proud to introduce our Stage Series HitchMount LED Pod Kit!

Features:

  • Allows you to mount an SSC1 or C1R LED pod in any 2-inch trailer hitch receiver.
  • Adds a powerful reverse light, 4th brake light, and additional running light.
  • Simple 5-minute installation, with no need for custom wiring or routing wires.
  • Optional SafetyStrobe brake light strobing.
  • Designed and assembled in USA.

Add significantly more light output when backing up at night with our Stage Series HitchMount Reverse Light Kit! This kit allows you to mount one SSC1 or C1R LED pod in your 2-inch trailer hitch receiver, adding a high-power reverse light, additional running light, and an optional 4th brake light with the C1R option. With the included wiring harness, this kit connects to your vehicle's factory trailer hitch wiring for simple, everyday operation.

Brighter Backup. Factory reverse bulbs just don't provide enough light output to back up at night confidently. By pairing our patented TIR optics with high-powered LEDs, the SSC1 and C1R included in this kit provide an additional reverse light that's several times brighter than stock bulbs alone. Plus, they automatically come on when the vehicle is put in reverse!

Additional Running Light. The Stage Series LED pods included with this kit feature a distinctive red backlight that can be used as an additional running light while driving! The backlight fully illuminates the TIR optic, providing a more unique and modern look than the small indicator LEDs found in other products.

SafetyStrobe 4th Brake Light. The C1R option features a high-power red function to serve as a powerful 4th brake light, along with the low-power running light. The high-power red functionality activates anytime you apply your brakes, adding a 4th brake light to your vehicle.

The C1R also features optional brake light strobing. By default, the C1R will flash three times anytime the brake lights are applied, for greater visibility. The SafetyStrobe feature can be easily disabled if desired.

Everyday Operation. This kit is completely plug-and-play with all 7-pin trailer connectors. The included harness plugs right into your factory trailer hitch wiring for easy installation and operation. The kit operates as an additional red running light with your tail lights, and then automatically switches to a high-power backup light when your vehicle is in reverse. The high-power 4th brake light feature included with the C1R will activate anytime you apply your brakes. If you would like to have override functionality to manually turn on the reverse light anytime, you will need to purchase the universal backup harness.

If your trailer connector is not 7-pin, this kit will still work for you but will require slight modification to the harness.

Simple Installation. The patent-pending snap-fit design allows you to install this mount in minutes, without any drilling or need for a hitch pin. Simply insert the HitchMount into your trailer hitch receiver and the snap-fit side mounts will snap into place. Installation couldn't be easier and takes less than five minutes!

This kit is ideal for anyone who uses their trailer hitch often since removal can be done in minutes as well! Simply unplug the harness, press the snap-fit pins and remove the mount. When you're not using your hitch for towing, you can quickly reinstall the HitchMount and plug it back in.

Focused. Traditional optics like reflectors or simple lenses lose light internally and to glare, so not all of the light shines on target. Instead, the custom-engineered TIR optic in our Stage Series pods collects all of the light from the LED, and directs it only where you need it, drastically reducing glare and improving total efficiency. Click here to learn more: Total Internal Reflection (TIR) Optics | Stage Series Video.

From there, while other options on the market lose as much as 10% of the light output shining through an outer lens, the custom-molded TIR optic in the Stage Series LED pods serves as both the optic and main lens for greater efficiency and light output (patent pending). Thanks to this innovative feature, when coupled with high-intensity LED chips, the total intensity of our pods is much greater than other LED pods using basic optics or reflectors with a standard outer lens.

Functional Output. All Stage Series beam patterns were designed with optical simulation modeling, to shape the output in a highly-functional beam pattern.

  • Flood pattern was designed to provide uniform, even illumination with a full 50x50 degree spread of light on the SSC1 LED pod. Unlike generic "flood" lights that are simply a heavily diffused spotlight, our flood pattern uses pillow optics on the outer lens surface, to provide a true optically designed spread, for even illumination throughout.

Security. If you would like to use a locking trailer pin to install this kit instead of the snap-fit pins, you can do so with a quick modification. Check out the YouTube video above!

Proven Reliability: Stage Series LED lighting has been extensively tested for long-term operation from -40 to 185 degrees F, along with vibration, moisture intrusion, and corrosion testing. All of these tests are completed to SAE standards, just like factory components. They've also been put to the test on-road by racers and enthusiasts alike.

Ok,

So I've gotten mine, but it has some serious issues. The strobing effects do not work when you stop the truck. We have tried two different harnesses, but Diode Dynamics is extremely hard to get a hold of (when you do the call isnt fruitful) or get anyone to respond to email messages. Be aware, anyone with a FX4 Max Tow package truck may experience issues such as the following:

Following errors:
  • Strobing effect does not work and the light will be off while the brake pedal is pressed
  • Strobing effect does not work and the light will blink to white then stay solid red
Codes thrown:
  • Cross Traffic Alert Deactivated Trailer attached
  • Trailer Right Turn Lamps Fault Check Lamps
  • Trailer Left Turn Lamps Fault Check Lamps
My thoughs are that this was not tested on a FX4 Max Tow truck and the trailer wiring harness pinout may be different from truck with other tow packages.
Hmm. Appreciate the heads up, my truck is very similar equipped. My hitch light was supposedly supposed to ship out today on the sixth but no word yet.
I'll update once I get it and install.

I too have the "Cross Traffic Alert Deactivated Trailer attached" but no other codes. The steering wheel indicator lines are also not shown. Doesn't bother me, unless those features were still supposed to work after installing the light, and even then I'm not sure it would still bother me.

I was really surprised (disappointed?) at how much I had gotten accustomed to those warning devices. I had to re-train myself on backup maneuvers (how stupid is that).

I like the light overall. Wouldn't mind the beam pattern to be a bit wider, but I also have some Rigid lights mounted on the bottom of the bumper which makes that a moot point.

I have to say I've had nothing but phenomenal customer service with these guys, always quick to return my emails with detailed responses to my questions.
Woke up to this first thing this morning, I sent email out asking about these issues and eta Saturday midnight.

They sent me the new harness and it's still not working and it looks no different from the one that came with the light, unless a different resistor or wiring pinout was used. Now they have asked me to take video of the light in action which I have yet to do. I've also not had any response back from them since early last week.

I just realized you have the new generation XOT which I'm assuming has much more technology options than my 2019 302 a.

Well shoot that's lame that the new harness didn't work for you hopefully they get it figured out sounds like they want to.
I'm surprised on waiting for reply, there's been times when I have sent them so many emails with questions I thought for sure they were gonna tell me to kick rocks but they've always gotten back to me really quickly.

I'll definitely post up my results after install. Me being the ocd freak that I am any fault notifications will drive me bonkers

I have a sneaking suspicion it has to do with the Max Tow package and the Smart Tow trailer tech package. I discussed this with them on the phone, but the individual I spoke too did not seem to have much technical knowledge or willingness to troubleshoot. My guess is, this product was designed and tested on an older model F150 or one without Max Tow or Smart Tow systems.

I have max tow but not the other. It'll be interesting to see if I have any similar issues or not

Mine is also making the truck think a trailer is connected. I emailed DD 10 days ago and they shipped me the new harness on Jan 5th. I like the light, hope the new harness does the trick. It should be here soon. I'll report back. Truck is a 2020 Lariat 502a.

Ok so according to the tech support individual with Diode Dynamics I am the outlier and only one having this issue. If anyone has issues with this light, please email them, call them, and do whatever it takes to get them to understand that there is indeed an issue with this light not working on some of our F150's. I still believe this is an issue with how the PCM and Smart Tow Package talks and how it interacts when this light is plugged in, I am thinking it's something voltage/resistance related but cannot say for certain that's the case. I have directed Diode Dynamics to this post to see if one of their technical support or engineering members will chime in.

Be nice if they would tell me this when I talk to their reps instead of telling me to return it.

Just received and installed the new wiring harness. Pleased to say everything now works as normal. Truck does not think a trailer is attached!

Drive it for a bit. Mine did the same thing with the new harness, but the light still does not function 100%.

Bummer. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the heads up!

One of the reps said they would stop by here and post up an update, but that was earlier this week, so who knows if any when they will stop in. I linked them directly to this post. But apparently they have an F150 with similar issues in the shop now and they are trying to troubleshoot it.

Alright,

Still waiting on a fix. This is directly from one of their reps. But no ETA on when this is suppose to happen. You'd think their own forum rep could pass this on, not a customer.

"Currently, we are seeing that the pod may be drawing just enough power to register in the vehicle's trailer system. We are attempting to design the harness around this idea and create a new PCB in the harness itself to compensate. I will get an order placed to have a custom Ford-specific harness sent to you once they are in development. The order will have a return label in the package with the new harness for you to use to send the old harness back.

Talk soon,

Good morning, Phillip!

Unfortunately, communication with our customer service team and a customer is separate from the social media team as they deal with many interactions daily.

I appreciate you providing an update and will request to be more informed regarding your ongoing HitchPod situation.

Thank you for providing an update on this thread!
