My Daddy always made me pour gas in the carb while he cranked the engine. I don't think he liked me.
Sure he liked you! He trusted you with fuel. Why else would he let you help?

It’s ok if he knows how to properly time the engine lol.

Ya he would just make guess adjustments to the distributor :sneaky:
I've done that in a pinch a few times.

Move it incrementally and compare based on whether the motor sounded happier.
Those are actually fond memories.

Anyone tried these plugs? Always had good luck with NGK so I’m tempted to try ‘em.

This is weird, I was literally just researching these an hour ago then I come on here and see this post.

I haven’t been to impressed with the Motorcraft GT plugs so far. First time I’ve ever had a misfire in any Ecoboost Truck I've owned has been with the GT plugs with roughly 25k miles on them, replaced them with another set a few thousand miles ago and just this past week my idle with ac on and in gear at a stop has gone bad, factory tune or tuned it doesn't matter.

Actually have a set of these plugs right now in the shopping cart on the rockauto website.

I am waiting on someone to chime in with "I rebuilt my first transmission when I was 9" haha
No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night

Well ended up trying these much sooner than I thought I was going to.

On the way home from the job site this morning had major bad misfire when getting on the throttle, less than 10,000 miles on these junk Ford GT plugs.
Out of all these years and the three different EcoBoost Trucks I've never had misfires before like this except for with these GT plugs, twice now. So I'm definitely done with these garbage GT plugs.

Found some of these NGK in stock at a parts store so I stopped by and pick them up on my way home then threw them in. Pretty crazy how much smoother idle is now with these.

agreed, idle and part throttle are both much improved. These NGK ruthenium are the best plugs ive run in the ecoboost engines. MPT turned me on to them and I dont plan to try anything else. Expecting to switch everything I own over to these plugs

I was skeptical that everybody was hyping them up on the forums/pages but now I'm a believer. I'm going to order a few sets just to have on hand.

Next set will be Ruthenium’s. Truck doesn’t run smooth on Motorcraft plugs.

Now that I've gotten a few miles on them my idle has gotten a little rougher again but still nothing like it was before with the Motorcraft.

Are you still using the plugs and if so, still a believer?

I am, I just installed them four days ago. I've only got a couple hundred miles on them but so far at this point they will be the plugs I continue to use.
Some of it could be just completely placebo effect but everything seems smoother all around engine wise.

Are those of you that are running these running them with the gap they came with or are you gapping them to a certain spec?

Any different procedure when gapping them?

I checked all mine before I installed them and they were all perfectly just at or very slightly under 0.030, (also a first, pass brands/plugs seems like I always had to adjust some of the gaps out of the boxes) so I left them where they were.
If I were to gap them I would just do as I usually do with normal plugs

For the 2017 an up guys, some tuners say there is no need to gap them down to the recommended .26/28 like the previous generations for stock or mildly tuned, but the older generations that have been subject to spark blowout under high boost and pressure, yes it is a must

I wonder how the NGK ILTR7N8 (95822) (SP-542 Equivalent) compare to the NGK LTR6BHX (90495)...... The more I read up on Motorcraft vs NGK plugs I am more and more convinced they are a much better plug option for our tuned ecoboost with far less gap issues over mileage and misfire/foul issues. It looks like the NGK LTR7BHX (95605) are a step colder than the NGK LTR6BHX (90495), if I am researching correctly

edit

Interesting read between the difference of Ruthenium vs Iridium
