I've been pretty loyal to NGK over the decades. I bought in to the marketing hype of the PSPE tips on the Ruenthium plugs when they first became available. These are supposed to be designed for forced-air applications. I haven't been sorry, they have worked just fine for me.

Prior to using the Ruenthiums, I used Iridiums for as long as they have been available. I never had a problem with them either. I think that there is a lot of marketing that goes into selling spark plugs. Seriously, NGK offers two different tips available on their Ruenthiums and two different models of Iridium to fit the 3.5L engines. How's a guy supposed to figure out the best plug for their application, and that's from just one manufacturer?

Spark plugs have such a simple job to do. Given, it's in a harsh environment but nonetheless a very simple job.

So, does anyone have the NGK Ruenthiums part numbers listed by Ecoboost engine / year?

So another thing I've noticed after getting some decent miles on these plugs, before I changed them I would get a what I assumed was valve train clackity clack usually when leaving from a stop with a good amount of throttle and holding the throttle. Since installing these plugs the sound has significantly reduced. (Knock on wood) so I'm assuming they must be firing off and producing a cleaner air/fuel burn… Just my total uneducated guess.

UHMMMM ruthenium, bacon for my F150!

Still, have a new set of iridium 6510's gapped and ready to install. 20000 miles more and the "big R's' may get a shot! KM

fyi, posted this in my build thread but applies to this thread:

Out with Ford Performance M-12405-35T plugs and in with the NGK 95605 plugs,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Well not so fast.... Working with Torrie and requesting logs, I sent him new ones, he emailed and said what has changed, there is a significant increase in KR. He asked did I recently change fuel, I told him no but I did change plugs... I advised from what plugs to what plugs from and he asked me log previous revisions, (2) two of them and send. I did log the two previous revisions, and sent to him, Same fuel in the tank similar ambient temps thankfully just NGK Plugs ,,,,,,and the findings, each revision I logged with running the new NGK plugs, we are experiencing 2-4 positive KR increase on the big end of each 1/4 run and WOT throttle pulls....

Now to totally eliminate the plugs, I have ordered a new set of the Ford Plugs, parked the truck to make sure the remaining fuel level stays and will swap plugs and do the logs over again for each of the revisions....

Now, for all of you, what are your thoughts?

If the plugs are working/running better is the spark quicker to ignite causing some KR. Fuel burn is always constant. Only thing that can be different is ignition and timing. Does it feel down on power?

No, not down on power, the draggy results for each are the opposite ... Imporved

Motorcraft plugs seem poor and slow then. Maybe your tuner will have some inside/insite. It’s the only variable you’ve changed right? I don’t know that I’d even throw another set of plugs in. I’d run with what’s in there but that’s me. Their claims seem true.

Cheese! What a bunch of words in the article. I think it was written for word count.

Hmm.
I wonder if it's the one step colder causing it.
Just from watching my KR on my Ngauge mine is noticeably better with these NGK 90495's in all area's.

I did leave mine gapped to where they were out of the box though, all pretty much right at or just ever so very slightly under 0.030

Wonder if the differance is in the plug resistance? I have seen comparisons for ohm testing that seems to show NGK more consistent than other plugs. There is also the possibility of fake/imitation branded plugs that are being discovered. KM

I kept them gapped too to the manufactured setting .....

I can tell you the sounds are gone and the truck seems to idle run smoother, start better and feels great

Now, with that said two separate revisions today with the tune and the ngk, waiting for the reply!

I did look at the plugs and read an article how to tell the difference, but I got the plugs from a local parts house and from what I studied, they are legit

Update,,,,,

After two revisions and logs, here we go!

Based on the logs with these plugs, it was relayed that my truck, with these plugs likes more timing and less boost... and a couple other minor tweaks we have the best looking log so far, in many ways and the best 1/4 mile 12.42
