Hello everyone, I’m have RBP wheels on my truck and the caps are cracked at the mounting screw because of over tightened. I even lost one.
No one has them in stock. I’m going to take the other three and drill out new holes for mounting and give them a much needed paint job.
If successful I’ll buy a fourth that doesn’t match and repaint it as well.
I have Rustoleum automotive primer adhere for plastic and there black paint for wheels and plastic caps. Most of the paint is gone on the caps.
My questions are. What’s the best way to sand them and prep them? Don’t want to wipe them w acetone and find out they melt.
The RBP logo and a star are chrome in the middle of each cap. How do I cover/protect the chrome from paint. They can not be removed. And so small I don’t think I can use tape without surgically precision. I’d have to have something like a scalpel and my hands are not steady enough.
I have repainted mowers and such That the safety warning stickers had to be visible. I use petroleum jelly or grease to carefully cover the stickers and after the paint dried I clean the grease off the stickers.
I don’t know if that method would work for the chrome on the center caps?
As always I appreciate any advice !!
Happy upcoming Thanksgiving.
