Miles is on the job!

Kinda like an officer stopping at a malfunctioning traffic signal and getting out to direct flow.

You the man! Lol

Towed 1.25 million lbs this weekend. I had my air bags set to 40 psi but no WDH. The trailer brake controller wasnt working either.

Lol.

Brilliant!

I can't believe nobody beat you to it. :)

Say what you want, but that IS a view of the future. Sooner than many might think. And I will admit that I am intrigued by the potential!

Agree'd. I would buy an electric truck now if they made one with the same towing range as my 36 gallon tank. Right now I think we will be lucky to see 150 miles towing, which just isnt enough for me.

WOAH! Part 2?

It seems like that is one of the biggest questions on the EV truck. How long will the battery last pulling its full rating? In most situations I would love an EV, but the few times I pull a camper somewhat long distance would concern me. Especially when I camp without hookups.

I want that orange Ford tow strap.

I'm excited about the electric trucks coming to market, but don't put too much stock in that marketing stunt.

"OK so I am a train guy. The weight isnt the load here as they are roller bearing axles on a level track. The ACTUAL drawbar load, which s whats put through that strap and the load to the hitch is 9090.9 lbs. To calculate its 20lbs of drawbar load per ton. 1 mil lbs/2200lb is 454 tons x 20 = 9090lbs Also keep this in mind that a single person pulled a 747 which is 747k lbs during a strong man challenge. Neither the Ford or the Tesla claim are really anything special."

I can't verify this fella's claims, but when he's pulling 1 million pounds with a 30k max rated tow strap....

That pulling is just a marketing scheme as many have pointed out and other manufactures have done. It is just over coming the rolling resistant of the rail wheels.

O i see max already commented on it. Ill hook my eco up and pull it too lol.

I am pretty sure that is the 1,000,000 lbs Ford branded tow strap. It is a special order.

I bet those aren't even bearing axles. It's probably floating on magnets.

I don't doubt it for a minute. You just need to get the train moving which is far less force than the weight of the train. For it to be 1.25M lbs of pulling force, the train would have to have its brakes locked on a high friction surface.

Still, you are accelerating 1.25 million lbs though, if you can get it up to speed quickly it's still impressive.

I mean, that "Train Guy" is correct...I only know because i'm one of those guys too but am not involved with the calculations that he came up with. There is NO resistance on those railcars at all so once you get that momentum going, it is like pulling nothing at all. Think of it like once you get a Yo-Yo spinning...it just KEEPS going for a certain amount of time until the resistance is too great.

This video may show a little more of how "light" these cars are with their roller bearings:

(man, it is tough to find a good video of this in action...don't mind the Xmas music)

Bunch of dream killers! Lol

Can't a guy dream about a future truck that is a cousin to a locomotive? ;)
