"Is the driveshaft seriously just gonna crack in half now? "

No intention on scaring ya. But any scoring has the potential to be a weak point. Something to consider maybe have it checked by a driveline specialist. I have lots of experiance with smaller aluminum shafts building arrows and latter tent poles, scoring is a simple way to cut/snap the tube.
Also have seen first hand the results of a snapped driveshaft at races, not pretty. And most of those were steel! KM
Do you know how many launches I’ve done with the driveshaft looking like that? All that scoring? I’ve gone 3.95 0-60 with the driveshaft like that. It’s a wonder it hasn’t broken. Maybe it’s thicker or something I don’t know. Or maybe I’m not pushing enough power to break it? Who knows.

I purchased another driveshaft from a junk yard. Just need to go pick it up.

If you are launching in 4 WD the power is being split to 2 different axles. As long as you have a replacement you could take the scored shaft to a driveline specialist for inspecton and maybe repair. KM

I’ll probably take it to a guy around here who does custom 1000hp rated driveshafts.

Matt, let us know what he thinks of the scoring, if it is a serious problem. KM

They probably do regular drive shafts too.

Yeah it’s a specific driveshaft shop here in Denver. My buddy got his driveshaft done. They turned it into a 4” shaft instead of 6”.

Dang, this thread now has me wondering about the stock rear shaft. I regularly use my truck in low range when pulling and backing 3-4k lb trailers up steep hills offroad. Hmmm....
I wouldn't worry about it...... something else will break before the drive shaft backing up heavy loads on a hill in 4wd low....... I would be worried about excessive tranny heat for the clutches,,,,,,

Is there a special socket to take off the driveshaft bolts? They don’t look like a normal bolt.

The Service Manual Driveshaft chapter is posted earlier here: Pinion Angle
I looked briefly and it did not call out any special tool.
