here are a couple of shots...i didnt do a step by step as i was winging it...if your 1/2 way mechanically inclined this is Hot Rodding 101 and you'll see as you go...

I insulated everything that looked like it needed it...you can feel the hot air blowing out of tube and if you wet your finger and put it over the intake you can feel it get cool from air pulling by it...it works good...the seat back does not get as frosty as the seat bottom but its not getting hot and between them both its comfortable...you can get the insulation from Summit or Jegs...its pretty sticky and solid once its in there and the seats moving around so it should be good for the long run
Nice work!

There can be some difficult users, but... we ignore them over there.

I appreciate the effort you've put into this, sincerely. I just hope ford does something. Soon. Gets old when you can feel your back actually getting *warmer* when the A/C seat is on full blast.

I joined this forum just to say thank you. I may do this if the third dealer I take it to refuses to acknowledge it.

I finally got the two threads over there merged AND got it placed as a sticky......keep the focus high until Ford does the right thing!!

Nice!!!!! That's what we need.

I have a 2015 F150 and my a/c seat has the same problem on driver and passenger side. The bottoms stay nice and cool but the back gets really warm. I can actually feel the motor from the back of the seat which is where the heat is coming from.

I've taken my seat back apart also. Seems like when the seat is in the heat mode, it blows cold air out of the heat exchanger. Going to try to duct the hot air out the back more efficiently. Sure as hell is a piss poor way to design a cooled seat in a 60,000 dollar truck. Thanks Ford.

Welcome to the forum, dpatel525. Have you had your dealer inspect your seats? I'd recommend that as a next step. What's the current mileage on your truck?

Crystal,

You know as well as all of us that taking it to the dealer is not going to solve this issue...

This seat cooling issue is not only the 2015 F150. It's also the F250, Mustang, Fusion, etc etc etc... Pretty much any new Ford with cooling seats.

What you need to do is get Ford to come up with a TSB so then we can take our Ford's in and get this fixed for real. Yes I plan on taking mine in just to get it on paper, but taking it to the dealer is mostly a big waist of time right now.

Kendive - although I can completely appreciate and understand your sentiment, I believe the reality is if we don't get our concerns on file with Ford, they will not do anything. Social media is a powerful tool but I'm not sure it's enough to get them to address the issue. With that, I think our only choice (or at least the best one) is to bring our vehicles into the shop.

Oh I agree and is why I will take it to the dealer to get it filed, but I am not going to the dealer just for that. I have a few other things it will be in there for and will be the perfect time to let them gander at the seats. I will also bring them one of my IR temp guns to play with in case they do not have one...

We also need to let them know they need to be on for a while to start showing they do not work because when you fist turn them on they cool like a champ. Until they heat up back there and start sucking in all that hot air and transferring to your back.

I would like to talk to the guy that came up with that bright idea...

Matter of fact put him in a room and let us all get at him maybe a little water boarding to start it off just to get him to talk... LOL

A post I made on a different Forum...

I just called Ford's Customer Service Hotline....go thru the prompts to talk to a real person.... 1-800-392-3673

I described the seatback cooling issue and after a while the nice young lady told me that "Yes, Ford is aware of this issue and is working on a solution", I was assigned a case number and supposedly the Regional Customer Service Manager will be calling me within one business day. We will see....

At least it is encouraging that someone at an 800 number KNOWS this is an issue and is recording it as a case....BTW....my dealership Service Manager had never heard of this issue.....supposedly....

I believe this path is better to record our issues vs. going to dealerships that have no clue and can waste gobs of our time.....better yet......DO BOTH!!

I will do both. Right after I have my visit at the dealer I will call the 800 number and let them know the problem and my dealer can fix it. I will ask what is Ford planing to do about this? Give me my money back for the truck. LOL Ha ha ha Like that would happen. But why not bring it up.

Well, I was hopeful until the Regional Customer Service Manager called as promised

After talking about the seat back cooling issue (I do not have ACC), it was as if it was the first time he had ever heard about it.....NO credibility as to others having the issue. I pointed him to this thread and the Ford SM page to get some background but all he wanted me to do was take the car to the dealership, have them look at it and have THEM contact the Ford Technical Support team...

I explained how many already had done just that with no results, but it was a broken record...take it to the dealer. I did send him an email with links to this and other Forums that are all on fire about this, but the RCSM was teflon as to admitting this was a Ford issue, what they are doing (if anything) to look into and when/how they will remedy the problem......almost a waste of my time!!

Sooooo....how DO we get Ford to sit up and address this problem.....Forums, SM and hotlines do not seem to do the trick.....Is Ford HQ in Michigan or WASHINGTON DC.....!!!!

Frustrating!!!

....PS....otherwise I LOVE my new Platinum!

7/28 Update.......go to the sites ealier referenced and you will see fix already tested AND action to get Ford's attention to this

SOOOO Bummed... new user just registered because of this exact issue on a brand new 15 F-150 I haven't even owned for 24 hours. I told the sales rep at delivery "man the seat feels really warm. Is there something wrong with this thing?". Drove it home anyway of course all excited to have a new truck. Took it out today to enjoy it for the first time in the daylight and my back is burning up.

Again I have only owned this thing for about 18 Hours. Any suggestions as to what I should do or who to contact? I've already sent my sales rep a message with a link to this thread saying it clearly is an issue and I asked for an acknowledgement back from him (not that it will mean anything).

Love the truck but really bummed to have spent $50k and find this out within the first day.

Simply my two cents as I haven't really used the seat ac on this truck but one of the first things I brought up to the district rep when I saw the truck in person at one of the drive events that was going around was the huge difference in the size of the new seats as opposed to the previous generation truck... Someone on this forum that came up with what seemed like a reasonable/sensible fix (tubing, insulation re routing the exhaust away from the intake etc...) pointed out that the new seats simply lack the real estate which I'll bet is exacerbated by putting a human body in these less than substantial seats!

Well looks like I will have this problem soon. I pick mine up today and we already have a small trip planned for the weekend with lots of heat. Not looking forward to the hot and cold effect...:(

Get in touch with me via private message, y2juice; I want to make sure you continue to love your truck. When writing, please include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll loop in your regional customer service manager so they can help keep your seats cool.

I have the same issue with Lariat that I purchased in May....at the dealer right now to check it out
