I was wonder what were some of the pros/cons of removing the resonator? I called Ford and they said not to do it because of emissions. I haven't read anywhere about those concerns. Thanks for the help
Your right, there seems to be a pretty big difference!Wow, there really is a difference between the pipe in and out of the muffler.
Sounds much better than any EB exhaust!O you mean ....

Going by memory (it's too cold to crawl under and verify) ... but the stock Down Pipes have 2.5" on each bank until the Y. I am uncertain about the diameter of the Y itself, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was 2.5" also, as some aftermarket downpipes advertise they are still 2.5" on the pipes from the banks but 3" after they Y. So I suspect the OEM Y is only 2.5".Your right, there seems to be a pretty big difference!
The stock down pipes where it y's into 1 pipe is that 3" or 2.5" ? I know the res pipe is 2.5" but what about the y pipe?
Are you tuned yet?I am on my third exhaust setup as of now, I did them in steps. First was stock, it had to go for the performance benefits. So I moved to a 3" straight pipe from the Y back, this was obviously overly obnoxious. Next i followed by splicing in a 3" in/3" out Magnaflow muffler, this got rid of the dorkiness for the exhaust but still had a very high pitch at 3/4 to WOT. Currently I have an 18" long 3" diameter straight-through resonator. So far the best sound. I recently installed an AFE twin tube CAI, now the truck is coming to life.
