Question About humming/low blow horn type noise! Please Help

1801 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  atpujol
I am having a low type horn/hum noise on it seems like the passenger side of my 2014 ecoboost. It has 16k miles. I just noticed it as it has gotten colder (is it the cold doing it?) its kinda random, but usually only last a second or two around 1500 to 2000 RPM in 2nd and 3rd gears. It sounds really similar to those 2 ft long plastic blow horns at soccer or football games that people have. It was a little louder when I was towing 7000# last weekend, but only happened twice off stop lights. Please help a otherwise very happy Ecoboost owner! Is this a problem? Thanks so much.

It sounds like an issue I had last year, dealer had truck for 2 weeks and couldn't figure it out. When I got the truck back I pulled the engine cover off and it went away, put the cover back on a few months later and the noise came back instantly. Pulled cover off again and the noise hasn't come back.

It could be the transmission, try and search on this site for transmission making horn sound. There is a tsb and a fix for it.

Hi atpujol,

I'd bring this noise to the attention of your local dealership. When you drop off your truck, be sure to either mention the circumstances under which it happens or take your tech on a test drive. Come back and tell us what the dealer finds; I'll be here if you need any assistance.

Thank you so much! I appreciate it. It needs an oil change next week so I will take it in. I just feel sort of disappointed... I also noticed that the left rear suspension is about 3/4 an inch lower than the right rear. My windshield wipers make a weird noise like a pop noise every time it goes. And the black weather stripping is already cracking from sun exposure. ITS A YEAR OLD. I shouldnt be having these issues. I want to last me 10 years 150,000 miles. I expect that it should. Its a ford. And Im not hard on it. It has 16k miles on it but other than that its had an easy life. Only been in 4wd once. Please help. Sorry for the vent.
