So we know what these trucks are rated at from the factory, however what kind of gas mileage have you been getting in the real world?

Currently I took delivery on a new Platinum F150 crew which only has 3900 accumulated miles to date. While I ordered the max trailer tow with 373 gears, the fuel economy has been erratic and poor at best delivering only 13.8/14.5 city and 17.9 hwy. I'm seeking anyone with similar power train to determine what mpg they may be getting.

I have heard that gas mileage gets a good bit better once you get closer to 5000 miles as the motor gets fully broken in. I don't think its anything massive, maybe an extra half MPG or so.

The 373 gears have to hurt the MPG though :(

I'll let Dan chime in, he's done quite a bit of towing with his.

I have almost the identical package with same gears and max tow package. In fact I could only find one white FX4 within 5 states that had the max tow package! I now have just over 5000 miles and the gas mileage has stayed roughly the same. How fast are you normally cruising on the highway?

I've got roughly 1,800 miles on the truck and on trip B which i haven’t reset since it rolled off the lot I’m showing 16.2. This is a pretty even mix of highway and city driving. I have noticed if I can keep it between 60-65 instead of my usual 75 the mileage increases dramatically. I'm sure the 3.73's aren’t helping me but I’ll sacrifice a little fuel mileage for the towing advantage they offer.

EcoBoost Mileage

I have an Ecoboost with around 7,000 miles on it. I have the max tow package with the 3.73 rear end. I started out getting around 20 on the highway and 15.5 around town. At about 2,500 miles I pulled a 33' - 7,500 lb travel trailer 250 miles and got just over 10 mpg. I've also pulled a 20 ft boat and get about 13.5 mpg. Then after I turned 5,000 miles the mileage dropped to under 18 on the highway and 14 around town. Pulled the same trailer on the exact same route and got 8.2 mpg. Oh and thegood mileage is best mileage both times was at around 65 mph. You go over70 and it really drops. Can't complain about power though, it's exerything they advertised.

I have a 2011 FX4 Supercab with 18k miles & max tow package. Mileage very dependent on wind & speed. At 55-65 mph; 16 mpg into wind, 19-22 with wind. At 70-75 mph mileage drops 2-3 mpg. Depending on speed & wind 10.5 - 12.5 mpg when towing 4000 lb boat. Not great but equal power and better than the 9 mpg I got towing & 12-13 mpg highway with 2003 6.0L GMC.

I have a question for anyone that knows. I will get my ecoboost tomorrow for the first time. Has anyone tried super premium gas ? I was told by someone that has one . It really improved the gas mpg. Has anyone else seen the same result?

I've only used premium while towing. For the rest of the time I'm guilty of trying to save some $$ and go with the cheaper fuel.

Just joined up here and am looking forward to sharing info with the rest of the community.

My results are similar to Fisherman with a two month old 2013 Super Cab. Mine is equipped with 3.31 gears and is averaging 16 +/- locally. One road trip yielded just over 18 but ran 70-75 into a 20mph headwind off the right front corner. Have seen 24 in calm conditions at 60 or less. Power is fabulous and it tows my flatbed trailer w/o an effort at all. Currently is showing just over 2200 miles.

Overall I'm tickled compared to the 01 Ram I traded in that would get 13+ on the highway going down hill with a stiff tail wind!

With my 87OCT tune and cat back and 3.15 gears I am averaging around 19MPG city and hwy mixed driving. I am -very- careful and conscientious trying to get the best MPG I can. I do only buy not Ethanol blended fuel, I think this helps a little, get Puregas app for your phone to find some.

Today I made a quick run to and from Austin, about 180 mile round trip. Managed 19.8 mpg. Truck only has 650 miles, and I tried to baby it on this first highway run.
Around town, I only have a 3.5 mile drive to work, I'm getting 14.2 mpg.

I have a 2011 Lariat Super Crew 4x4 with the 3.50 gears and now have about 14k miles on the truck. On a recent 1400 mile trip from Olympia, WA to Yuma, AZ I averaged 19mpg. I had a fair load in the bed and was driving maily 70-75 mph. My previous truck was a 2007 F150, same gears, etc with the 5.4l V-8. I did the same trip several times and never broke 17mpg with it. I am convinced the Ecoboost will get great miileage as long as you are not working it too hard. I know i can easy get in the 21-22mpg range on the highway if i keep it below 65 mph. I am more than pleased with the truck to date.
