Does this look like a rear pinion seal leak? If so, how hard is it to replace on my own? Thanks in advance. This is on a 2018 Ford expedition max 3.5 EB 103,000 miles
Replacing the seal isnt hard, its tightening the pinion nut back down is what is hard. It takes alot of force to tightn it down. And when you do the seal buy a factory seal if not youll be doing the job againDoes this look like a rear pinion seal leak? If so, how hard is it to replace on my own? Thanks in advance. Yes it looks to be a pinion seal that is leaking
I may just have the local autoshop do this one. I’m supposed to haul a camper with this suv in 2 weeks. Y’all think a shop would charge me a lot to do the work?Replacing the seal isnt hard, its tightening the pinion nut back down is what is hard. It takes alot of force to tightn it down. You can top it off and use the truck, just gotta keep an eye on it. And as for what a shop will charge i have no clue a shop would get it done alot quickerY’all think I can just top off the rear diff with fluid and go camping still or is this something I should take care of?
Leaking diff fluid should not be the cause of hard shifts at allI’ll let y’all know what they charge me when I call Monday. I’ve been having hard shifts from 3 to 5th gear. I wonder if low diff fluid is the cause for this?
The seal flange looks to be seated all the way, if your talking about the white flange that is a seal cover/ protectorIsn't that seal flange supposed to be seated all the way on the diff housing?
