Rubbing noise in the front end....

I have looked around on the forums and havent been able to find anything about this so I am asking here... I am hearing a rubber on rubber sound (could be grinding, but I dont know), but it could be grinding to in my front end/drivers side and it is most noticeable when I turn. I have asked around and the first thing people say is replace the 4WD actuators. Does anyone have an honest answer or should I just go with the 4wd actuators?

I'd wonder about the hub bearing if you're hearing it on the turn. That said, I wouldn't replace the hub bearing without replacing the IWE, after all, you're right there. Brakes can also cause a noise while turning. You can check the IWE condition by locking it in and out of 4WD while performing the same maneuver but the IWE noise is often times vacuum-related and not turn-related.

Sorry, its been awhile for a response. I blame my new daughter.... I did the whole vacuum thing and it has vacuum in 2wd but not 4wd, so im guessing the solenoid is working fine. Im leaning toward the IWEs. Another question, would a bad set of IWEs cause the ABS to kick on because every once in awhile my brakes make it seem like my wheels are skidding when they arent or when im on dry ground... No codes when i downloaded them with my Ancel X7 code reader...

Damaged abs cable might. Inspect them at each wheel end.
