I have 2012 3.5 EcoBoost. 130,000 miles. I'm on my third new starter in three months. The original starter was not engaging when I attempted to start the engine. The shop said it needed replaced so it was replaced. The new starter began not engaging so it was replaced. The second one started not engaging so it was replaced with a starter from Ford. Now the third starter started not engaging. I have a new 800 cold crank battery so it has plenty of power. Any ideas?

When I was a kid I had a 69 Merc Monterey that had a bad flywheel. What a job that was! I can't imagine changing one in this truck!

Is there a way to take the dust cover off around the torque converter?
I had a 91 S10 that was doing the same thing, turned out the ring gear around the flywheel was spinning on the actual flywheel, 4 starters later... So it might be worth uncovering to see what might actually be happening?
How old is the battery?
