I have a 2012 F-150 eco XLT with a sever chatter a start up. new timing chain, new injector pump he Ford dealers have all but given up any ideas ?
there is a startup noise thread that discusses this as well as another forum. Several members, including myself, think it is a cam phaser making noise on startup.

It does, unless it falls under some of the govt. mandated warranties like for emissions or safety issues. Speakers would definitely not be covered.

Just get some aftermarket speakers, the base Motorcrap speakers suck really bad.

Why replace them with the same crappy speakers that will fail again if your going to have to pay for it either way?

Yup spend $50 to 100 on a set of speakers and change them yourself. I tossed all the ford speakers right away they are junk. Mine had the same issue.. they changed it and it started crapping out again. So that's when I went after market and never had a no issue.

TSB15-0131, August 19, 2015

Latest timing chain TSB, applies to every 3.5 Eco before 5-29-2015

Replace all four variable camshaft timing (VCT) units and primary timing chain.

WARRANTY STATUS:
Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage

Does not say codes are necessary, only startup noise after cold soak of 6 hours or more.

My truck is under the knife for this one now. ^^

Supposedly the permanent fix for the issue, as both the chain and VCT phasers have been revised.

So I'be made the step to take mine in goes in next week to see what the service Sept is going to say. Even the service manager said it was likely the phasers when I had it in there back in April but said they couldn't do anything about it.

We've all been saying the phasers for a while now... I'm glad Ford finally took responsibility.

I always have issues with this particular service dept. I actually started bringing my vehicles to the local Chevy dealer for servicing. Lol

Just chiming in here. I'm in Canada, I took mine to the dealership two weeks ago to have them look at it..planned to leave it there overnight so that they could hear the cold start, guess what....no rattle. Luckily I had the shop Forman come out for the start. I had one of the YouTube videos of this rattle cued up just in case. They ordered the part and it goes in on Tuesday. I'll update once I get it back with the complete work list

Lucky you, mine sat at the dealer for 3 weeks and never made the noise... It does it damn near daily, so I know they were hearing it. The service manager finally heard it do it after three weeks, and decided to order the parts for the tsb. I spoon fed them every relevant bit of information from the tsb numbers to articles from ford acknowledging the issue.

There is many TSB and I asked my dealer if there was any that needed to be done on mine. Built date is around july 2014. They said there was no TSB to be done.

However I read a few things here and there and I was wondering if I can ask them to do it even tho I don't see the problem? My thinking is about the pedal to the floor problem that is it goes limp, I don't want to get into an accident to tell them it happened. I did floor it a few times but I don't do that regularly.

As per this I should be fine and have no problem.

I think I get confused by the amount of different problem vs TSB.
