Sooo, 2021 Limited. Driving to a blood test drove over a plastic bucket (typical paint can) thinking WCGW.. Had these Mexicans men in a work truck frantically gesticulating at my front end, stopped to check, couldn't see anything, thought they were kidding. On my way to Wendy's for lunch from work, had an old man point out something was dangling from the front of the truck.
Couldn't wait there to lament, drove over a speed breaker on my way back and ripped it completely off.
Not recoverable.. of course I'd grinded off most of one side of the air dam and needed some sort of actuators (online search)
Ford AutoNation gave me an estimate (same as I read online) around $1650 for what I would consider a redundant piece of equipment meant to improve my mileage driving in normal mode. (I get 19, didn't expect that from a truck to begin with!) My Grand Cherokee used to give me 14. No way was I spending that much money on something that is bound to happen again. Its a truck for God-sakes!
Did some highway driving over the weekend, about 250 miles, don't know if its me but the truck felt kinda sluggish, older ( got it in Dec 2021) could the lack of the air dam be affecting the cooling intercooler or otherwise? Drag is greater so affecting the performance? we're talking 80+ speeds here.
Mind you, I drove to Gatlinburg (1750 miles) a week from getting the truck, felt like a different ride then.
Any tips from people with a similar problem?
I would prefer to hear from people who have experience with the Air Dam, don't need general advise/suggestions/data facts.
Thanks
