Turbo Coolant Leak

2016 F150 with 66k miles leaking coolant. Dealer replaced water pump under my extended warranty and noticed another coolant leak at the connection to the driver's side turbo not covered under warranty. The estimate to repair was $4,600!! Labor was $3,800!! I took it to a local mechanic who confirmed the issue and told me that it's a long and difficult job because of the location of the leak, but he works alone and not in a position to do the work. Sooo ..... what do ya all think of the dealer estimate? Has anyone had this issue?

Hi. Take a look at this thread while we wait for others to chime in: 2015 3.5 Jiffys, Coolant Lines, Oil Lines, Oil Screens...
what do ya all think of the dealer estimate?
$800 in parts? While its not a fast job, $3800 for labor seems a bit high
Wonder why that leak is excluded bu your warranty? Is it an extended warranty? I would be reviewing the paperwork to make sure you are receiving good intel

I have a 2015 that I recently did this job on myself. I am sort of shocked but not really about $4600 as an estimate. Its a lot of work so you will have a tough time finding anyone but a dealer to do the job. It took me, a nobody (not a mechanic), about 15 hours to do the job myself for the first time ever in my driveway (this is excluding the manifold part of the job).

There is no way its $800 in parts unless they are replacing other things. I replaced all lines and fittings both oil and coolant as well as new headers for about $1k in parts and I overbought parts (Most were OEM).

Be wary *(very wary) about anyone who is quoting anyitng other than ALL lines REPLACED and ALL JIFFYS replaced. The internet archives are full of stories of leaking jiffys after only partial replacement. In my estimation its simply not worth it to not replace everything.

RE the extended warranty, make sure you follow up on that diligently. I have read that some extended warranties cover it and some don't.

OP - any update on this? Did you get other quotes on the work and what have you decided?
