Valve cover keeps burning..

I Have a 2013 f150 3.5 ecoboost. Valve cover keeps burning on passenger side. What is causing this? Cover looks fine from inside so it can’t be the valves.. I’m just confused. I replaced the burnt valve cover with a brand new one and same burn. Same spot. Weird. The water coolant line that runs beside it gets really hot but I don’t think it’s causing this burn.. are coolant lines supposed to get hot to touch? Thank you

It could be the coolant line that is causing the issue and yes they do get hot but there usually engine temp hot which could range from 190-215 degrees could be higher depending on load conditions to. If the valve cover isnt leaking i would put it back on and run the truck and get a temp gun to see what the temps are in that general area.

Coolant lines should not get hot enough to melt plastic.

You could wrap that coolant line with some heat tape, exhaust wrap type stuff.

Exhaust manifold leak?

^^^ - if it was the coolant line we would have seen this happening a lot! Manifold leak is a good place to look.

Yeah, I gotta believe you've got an exhaust manifold gasket that has given it up.

I was also going to chime in the same before I scrolled down.

What's going on with that COP that it needs duct tape?? This looks like the wiring there could be arcing to the stud holding the cover on. Looks like several smalls burns to me. Is the wire insulated properly?
Not very knowledgeable in this as most of yall, but if the manifold was leaking wouldn't there be more than just that part of the valve cover melted? Like the piping around it? Just thought Id ask from the peanut gallery lol

And there should be a loud noise that you might be asking questions about. Or be concerned about.

If it were a pinhole or very localized exhaust leak it could point right at that spot. You would think that you could hear it though.

Wouldn't be hard to find out if that was the issue.

I would vote no way this is coolant related. This looks exhaust leak related to me. Did you figure it out?

Thanks everyone. It was an exhaust leak. Changed both sides exhaust manifolds and turbos plus coolant lines.. changed the burnt valve cover. She’s running really nice again! I had the exhaust manifold bolts on the wrong way the first time I changed it so it wasn’t grabbing onto the block as it should. All good now!
