I finally replaced the driver's side door lock actuator in my 2015 yesterday with an OEM from Tasca Ford. I wanted to get the job done so I didn't pause for pictures/write-up, but I followed the 2017 Ford F-150 Door Latch Replacement - Fix For Frozen Door Latch procedures on YouTube that Chris’ Fix-It Garage & Home posted (not sure if I can post the link as it's an outside source). Aside from fighting the interior door latch cable reinstalling it on the actuator, no real issues to speak of. I taped my window up with duct tape as opposed to removing it (tinted window, didn't want to accidentally scratch it) which worked great and cleaned up easily with some Goo Be Gone. As long as you budget some time and keep things organized, other than being gob smacked at the utter silliness of the design, the job itself wasn't bad, and I no longer have to remember to lock the door before closing it.

I didn't do anything to it yet.
My intentions are to do as little as possible.
But......... I can't get in it! 🙄

So I HAVE to get a step for the driver's door at least, ASAP.

It's been 21 years since my last F350
And admittedly it was dolled up. But I don't remember them coming this lifted from the factory.

It dwarfs my 2012 F150

Electric running boards, my friend, don't have to look at them and all you need for that extra lift for a guy that has a fake hip. Just to be fair, I don't want you to be alone. I still have my own hips, and I had to work at it to get in my friend's Bronco on the passenger side. Left arm doesn't work well to pull me in.

You da man Boatwaco!
I'm fetching one this morning.
Is that Harbor Freight, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, or Ace? 😁

Edit:
Orange store

We have one of those stored in the camper pass through. Might be broken. There for when we have a campsite that's real low on the camp side and the stairs sit high. Might be broken. Wife cracked it when she was about 70 lbs heavier.

Grabbed one (very similar) at Harbor Freight.
But before trying it out I stumbled on a much different method for getting up into the truck.

Instead of trying to get my foot up inside of the truck, I just put my knee on the door sill, grab the A-pillar hand grip and as I hold on, I just lift me posterior up onto the seat!
Wouldn't be good for someone wearing dress pants, but I'm a 363 day Wrangler fella. 😁

How can this thing NOT be considered lifted?

I'd be able to get into that easily but I'm 6'4" and a lot younger then you.

Shed a tear for the folks vertically challenged, dealt with that my whole life. Steps on a 2wd slightly leveled truck, yes! Red plastic folding stool to reach the oil dipstick, climb into the bed, and best of all doubles as a camp table. Best part of being short? Few lumpy heads! KM

A link to, being vertically challenged, the steps, the stool? I'm near a foot shorter and you need to talk down at me. KM

Just so you know, I have been practicing techniques of getting in the big bones truck. I've gotten pretty smooth at it, as unusual as the procedure I am using is. I don't think I have ever seen anyone ever get in a vehicle this way, but it's repeatable and mostly painless.

Does require a lack of pride, of course. 😎

If I get a chance, I'll have someone film it and post up. Yaw are friends, afterall.

Well, let's hope you can keep that knee that you're using to get in, kneeling on the fakes hasn't been good to me and I hope you don't have that experience, assuming you haven't already.

So do you leave your manual deployable step outside? Or does it get put back inside after you get in?

Finally have some small maintenance done. Transmission fluid flush/fill and coolant flush and fill. Both done at the shop around the corner. Along with a full check of brakes and suspension. $650 total and all good to go! Still on the original brakes estimated at 30% left, at this rate I'll have 120000 miles before brake work! Good chunk of dollars but I have no place to do this type of service. The tech said all was good, the fluids removed looked in fine shape, took it for a ride and all is fine! I changed both at 40k and have 75k on it now. KM
