For the life of me I can't seem to find this rubber shield/guard on any parts sites. Maybe I've been using the wrong search terms. What is it called? Please don't tell me it only comes as part of a new fender liner.

Thanks for the assist.

Not available as a separate piece.

When you buy a new fender liner they ask you if ecoboost engine or not, specifically because of those pieces.

- some call them front wheel well splash aprons

Long ago I had a 1986 VW Golf for which the alternator light would come on when I hit a water puddle. Studied the situation and concluded water was entering in similar place as show in the OP’s picture. Looked around the garage, found some old flat mud flaps. Trimmed one to fit. Used two broad head screws originally used to mount the mud flaps. No more alternator light in the rain.

Later used the other mud flap between exhaust and skid plate of my KTM 450 to keep mud from packing in that space.

Thanks for the info, guys. Going to have to call upon some red
neck engineering to get it fixed now.

Google the terms I used at the end of my first reply.
On the other forums there's threads about them.

They're using different materials.
Fiber reinforced rubber, stuff from lowes, etc.

Probably better material than the oem stuff too.

This is an easy fix. Just drill a hole on each end of the tear and put another plastic anchor in there. I wouldn't even fix the tear.

The part is now officially called “broken”. Fix with black duct tape!
