Human Nature

A single individual owner of a vehicle translates their personal ownership experience as the defacto representation of the make/model in question.

We all see it time to time on the forums.

I am well aware of the issues SOME experience with their example of the same vehicle I own. But I have my experience, and that's the one I am most influenced by.

Are you suggesting I have an old school body/look with technologically advanced thinking? Does kinda fit the concept of my truck. KM

Hasty generalization fallacy. More info can be found on Google.

But Fords warranty claims...that's harder to dispute. By their own admission it's sky high. Don't know the distribution of vehicles making up those claims though.

It's really disappointing because many of the vehicles are very capable. But the quality definitely needs improvement.

I'd rather use the opinion of someone I have know for a few weeks/months/years, even if on an internet forum than general Google knowledge speakers.
"But the quality definitely needs improvement." or does the involvement of owners in their vehicles have an impact.
Yeah old geezer opinion but 50 years ago vehicle owners seemed more involved. Even without counting enthusiasts, owners looked at maintenance in a more active way. But as manufacturers lengthened service interval over time owners have also become less proactive.
I think the expectations are exceeding the quality attainable today. KM

I used a lot of Sunoco fuel in my youth. The fuel station used a dial to mix the amounts of octane. My old Z28 had a liking for 106 blend, but it had 12-1 CR and as much as I could afford to do in street stock competition modifications. KM

My Z28 would run fine on 93 at 13.5-1 CR. It was a 96 LT1 with reverse cooling and a cam that was a 234/238 with 108 LSA. It bled off a bit of that compression. She ran 10.8 in the quarter and was a blast to drive!

First let me say I'm sorry.....the ford ecoboost is about the equivalent of buying a 6.0 diesel. I am a dedicated Ford man since the day I was born...but these are the two worst engines ford has ever built... If you don't beive me...check your owners manual and I know on mine (not sure about the 2016...but have you ever heard of an engine that your Manuel states to change timing chains cam phasers and guides ect... at 80,000 miles.... Heck you might as well just totally rebuild the engine! And that is IF you can even find a shop that will work on it! When my timing chain broke....and there is 3 of them....I called Ford and they said...we have good news and bad news....good news...we have them in stock....bad news....it's right at 10,000 for the motor and 4000 to put it in....and that was Long Lewis Ford of Muscle Shoals Alabama.... So I am not a hater and I'm glad you have a nice vehicle man...truly I'm not a hater...better yet...I'm happy to hear it's a Ford....but my advice is to trade that sucker off for a different model as fast as you can my man....sorry to tell you! I have been paying on mine for two years now and it's just not worth putting 14,000 into my truck because it doesn't book for much more than that....so I'm still making payments on a truck that doesn't run....and it's not worth much to trade in...and only a couple hundred in scrap....my good news is I found a f350 with a 5.4 in it that's wrecked so I'm just going to put my body on that frame...my best option....
hey, you owe the 6.4 some love...

That body should just plop right on that one-ton frame. Can't wait to see how that turns out. Gotta have pics.

Mine was 28 years older, 1968 302 with a big Holley and point ignition. DOT drag tire had not been introduced, bias ply street tires only. I did manage a few 13.05 passes before I had to sell it. KM

91 is as good as we can get in these parts so that is what I run.
Same here, or at least without having to drive an hour or more to find 93.
so 91 it's been since I pulled the truck off the lot brand new.
I do however add a splash of e85 (about 3 gallons in my 36 gallon tank) which helps all around performance.

Yeah, unless you are ready to dabble into fuel additives to boost octane yer stuck with what ya find. Have to admit WI does have a few refineries and a good supply of 93 locally. But traveling reveals we are kind of unique. Hence my own 3 to 1 use of an AO tune over the 93 performance tune. KM

And always serviced at 4000 miles with synthetic oil and yet I have a oil moisture separator...one of the best investments you can put on a 3.5 turbo engine.....I'm so not alone....the dealer I bought mine from currently has a 2013 f150 4 door 4x4 platinum and he's asking 2500.00 for it because the timing chain broke and he's not investing that much money in a 13 either....just isn't a wise financial decision.... Ford really dropped the ball on this one man...It is even worse than the 6.0 diesel.... because if you bulletproof a 6.0...atleast you should have a truck that you can get another 250,000 or more miles out of....the 3.5 with a new long block is still 80,000 and time for chains and stuff again!
I'm driving a 2014 TREMOR 4x4 that I bought NEW in October of 2014. I've had a 93 octane ( Top Tier gasoline ONLY Sunoco / Shell) MPT tune in it since 2016, what a hoot. It just passed 60K with No mechanical problems. I had a 5.4 in a 2005 FX4. What a dog. It was rated at 300 horse, but those horses must have been Shetland ponies. When changing the 3 piece spark plugs for the first time in the 5.4 4 broke off in the head. Now they were a blast to change, and would have cost a bundle if I hadn't done it myself. The only good thing I can say about my 5.4 is it didn't blow any plugs out of the heads.

The 6.0 PS is in it's own league for issues, probably is one of the least reliable engines made. For performance, fuel mileage, durability, the 3.5 can't be beat. Call me bias, but name one 1/2 ton engine that rivals the specs and durability.

No where in the manual does it say to do that with the timing chain/phasers @80k or any major components... nowhere.

Yeah with this comment "an engine that your Manuel states to change timing chains cam phasers and guides ect... at 80,000 miles.... " all credibility was lost. KM
