Battery light/symbol coming on then off

Hi - new here with a 2012 FX4 with 82k miles. I just got the truck and already did the spark plugs and weep hole due to the chugging/miss issue. I now have the battery light coming on in the dash cluster. I replaced the battery since the positive terminal evidently leaked acid. So, new battery in and left sit overnight for 8hrs. I still get the battery light coming on, and then going off all on its own. Today, it stopped halfway to work, but then the next drive cycle it started going on/off again. Any ideas on a solution? The battery is fine and no issues other than the stupid light and dinging every few miles.
The Ford dealer I bought from has been a joke so far - they won't own up to not inspecting this truck. All of the issues I had should have been found there.

If a bat. Light comes on when you are driving it means the systom is not charging and runing on battery only. It is an issue that needs addressed. If you or some one you know has a volt metter you can pin your way through the charging system. My first plain of action would be inspect and clean battery conections, fuse block charge wire conections, and the charging wire to the alternator. If you still have the bat. Light coming on may simply need an alternator.

So it goes on and off all on its own while driving. Never an issue with battery life or charging as it has done this for a while. No charge issue and the system is seeing a false issue. Seems like after 30 minutes of driving it stops illuminating. From what i see, it needs the dealer reset via their genesis scan tool. Just an absolute frustrating problem that the dealer is playing stupid on.

Nope. The battery symbol comes on, then goes off. A few minutes later it comes back on. It's very strange as their are no issues. I really think all it needs is the battery reset from the dealer and i will be good.

The battery light has magically stopped coming on and off during driving now. No real answer as to why, but my only guess is that it was drive cycle related. The truck runs very well now, so i am happy about that. I just want the thing fully sorted out before winter is back with us in northeast ohio.

Last time i saw this issue was on a 2007 mazda3. It was an intermittent "sticking" regulator inside the alternator. Would act up for a week then stop for months. Act up again for a while, then be fine. Eventually it started staying offline long enough that we saw symptoms like the videos posted above as the battery was running to low to keep all the sub systems alive. Car still started fine so don't assume that means this is a false light.

Mine comes on off but I'm noticing high charge volts. Up to 17 the other day. Going in tomorrow to ask for a new regulator

Ford Service checked and they are not able to do anything. So much for the bazillion point used vehicle ceryification/check that Autonation Ford did!!! I definitely bought a LEMON.

So... Has anyone performed the above SSM 12055 on their own? Looks like it is just wiring in the connector at the alternator.

Ford dealer had a look at it today and could find nothing wrong with the system. They did hook it up and reset the battery life monitoring system (since I had installed a new battery a few weeks back - factory battery was cracked and oozing) and the error did not appear on the way home. Hoping it stays this way!

This is a forum intended for the V6 EcoBoost engine trucks and I'm not real sure how many of the electrical components are shared between all the engine variations, but I seem to remember someone having a similar situation occurring and it came down to some chaffed wires near the computer that were intermittently grounding out. My suggestion would be to trace your harnesses in the engine compartment and check them out.

My 2012 f150 fx4 is doing the same thing in the videos posted above. Already replaced alternator and battery. Already had two mechanic shops look at it. Can't figure it out. Truck left me stranded yesterday. Turned off engine. Put the key in the ignition. Vehicle kept turning but wouldn't start. Battery light keeps coming on.?????
