Repairing a broken plug and replacing timing chains and cannot find anywhere online the procedure for the TTY head bolts on the Ecoboost. Any ideas where a DIY shadetree mechanic could find that information?

@mvmartin, It's a 5 stage process for the 8 bolts in each head.

1- Tighten to 20 Nm
2- Tighten to 35Nm
3- Tighten 90 degrees
4- Tighten 90 degrees
5- Tighten 45 degrees

The single M6 bolt calls for 10Nm.

Good info, but what about the order for torquing the bolts? The last engine I built was a 5.0 Mustang and there was a specific order for tightening the bolts/studs. I'm sure that applies to virtually all heads.

He didn't ask about the order, but generally it is center-out on anything that is long and could suffer from twist or fracture.

We're debating over semantics, but he didn't technically ask for torque specs. He asked for the procedure, which to me means all of it. Props to you for helping.

Thanks for all the info guys! I'm crossing forums over to the EcoBoost from the naturally aspirated ford 3.5. I have a 11' Taurus with the transverse NA 3.5 and there are no head torque specs anywhere. Would there be any variances with it being non-turbo? Thanks !
