Venting. 2019 F150 3.5 Ecoboost Lariat SE (racing stripes and two tone leather interior) max tow. While towing a Uhaul motorcycle trailer loaded with a 550 lb. motorcycle the wrench light came on 6 hours into an 8 hour trip. After stopping for a quick google search, I continued on to my destination. The truck was over revving when shifting from 1-3 and 7-8 unless it was really babied. This was in the middle of nowhere during a family move so my options were limited. I brought it into the local Ford dealer soon after.

Diagnostics - No scan codes present. Transmission shifts harsh accelerating from 1-3 and 7-8. Transmission fluid level checked low. Fluid was burnt. Friction material found in fluid. Recommend overhauling transmission and valve body.

Eight weeks and $4583.46 later, I have my truck back and if shifts better than it did even when purchased new. My vent is on the known issues of the 10R80 transmission, and being 5.400 miles past the 60,000 mile powertrain warranty. Ford Customer Relation Center Response was here's your case number, CAS-49225975-Y2B0S5, and there's really nothing we can do. Thank you for being a loyal Ford customer.

Thank goodness I purchased a Route 66 extended warranty which covered EVERYTHING except consumables (fluid, filters, taxes, etc). $705.57 out of pocket which included a $20.55 surchage.

So now I have a truck that I love, with 34,000 miles left on an extended warranty with a transmission that totally failed and I don't trust that it will not fail again.

Nice truck, hopefully they put in the newer updated parts. Good that you had the extended warranty. First I’ve heard of them rebuilding one, I usually hear about them R+R with a reman unit.

I'll play too! My truck has also had phaser and CDF drum failures! Do I trust the new parts? No! Do I still love my truck? Yes!

Does anyone know if the CDF drum bushing failure is more prevalent on the ecoboost trucks or do the coyote guys experience it just as much? I guess I'm asking if the increased torque from the ecoboosts seem to cause it more often.

If I might add to this thread (summer and camping season is over so I'm back) I waited 2 months for the parts to come in to have my 10r80 rebuilt. Same symptoms that got worse while waiting for the parts. Honestly think Ford should be covering this with that bad design for the CDF drum. Anyways, got that done week before last, along with the left upper control arm, left front wheel bearing and IWE. Headed out for our last camping trip last weekend, hot transmission wrench light came on about half way there. Carried on to the campground regardless, engine fans screaming all the way. Good thing it was a pull through site as I could barely back up the truck. Found the cell number of the sales manager at my dealer and shot him a text (well after hours on a Friday). Hour later I was on the service desk guy.

Saturday I had it towed using CAA the 190km to the dealer with the promise they'd bring out a truck so we could make it home, which they did on Sunday. 2022 XLT, loaded right up. Love my dealer.

They got into the transmission Thursday afternoon and yesterday afternoon Kevin from service called with Jim, the dealership owner, on the line too. Apparently they didn't flush out the cooler well enough and it was plugged up with debris from the old transmission clutches. No rebuilding this transmission now. They're putting in a NEW transmission at no cost to me. Good dealer.

My 2019 F-150 just got diagnosed with the CDF Drum issue. The quote was between $5,000.00 to $11,000.00 to fix their problem. Has anyone had any success with a claim or climbing the Ford Ladder were Ford took responsibility and paid for this repair?

Also, does anyone have any insights to Litigation or when a Recall may come from this? I did see some Class Actions online but not sure what is legit and effective.

Thanx,
Mike

I was at around $6000 CDN after taxes for the rebuild. I have a great dealer though. And since they buggered up, a brand new transmission. IMO Ford should have issued a recall, but that's a lot of money. If they do ever issue a recall, I'll get reimbursed. Smacks of a safety issue when I turn onto the highway with trailer in tow and the truck can't find it's gear to get moving.

If any other Canadians have experienced this problem, I'd ask you to please file a safety complaint with Transport Canada. They do have a lot of complaints, but they need more to make Ford Canada to do something. The repair to fix Ford's defective design shouldn't be coming out of our pockets. Lucky I didn't get hit pulling onto the Trans Canada Highway when the transmission couldn't find a gear to accelerate.
