Ford dealer had a look at it today and could find nothing wrong with the system. They did hook it up and reset the battery life monitoring system (since I had installed a new battery a few weeks back - factory battery was cracked and oozing) and the error did not appear on the way home. Hoping it stays this way!

So far, no more error. The battery monitor reset is now allowing the alternator to cut out as it should for gas mileage savings. End result is i went from 18mpg to 22mpg just like that.

My truck is doing the same exact thing as shown in the 3videos above . What is causing this and how do I fix it ?

Hi thanks for the welcome.. I have a 2012 f-150 fx2 5.0. This has been baffleing me for the pass week ..
This is a forum intended for the V6 EcoBoost engine trucks and I'm not real sure how many of the electrical components are shared between all the engine variations, but I seem to remember someone having a similar situation occurring and it came down to some chaffed wires near the computer that were intermittently grounding out. My suggestion would be to trace your harnesses in the engine compartment and check them out.

This is exactly what my truck is doing. I have a 2013 eco boost. Did you get this fixed/figure out what caused this?? I have researched and the answers I came up with was the cluster needed to be replaced or bad altinator.

So what happened with mine. Ford tech said that I had some cut wires underneath. Trying to blame my downpipes/exhaust install. Anyways. Water was contacting these exposed wires & shorted the dash out. Thy did replace the alternator first. But then I had issues 2 weeks later. Buddy electrical taped up the exposed & off I went. Had no more issues.

I failed & didn’t ask to see where such wires were “cut”

My 2012 f150 fx4 is doing the same thing in the videos posted above. Already replaced alternator and battery. Already had two mechanic shops look at it. Can't figure it out. Truck left me stranded yesterday. Turned off engine. Put the key in the ignition. Vehicle kept turning but wouldn't start. Battery light keeps coming on.?????
