cargo light black out

I just got done putting Harley heads and tails on my truck. I'm liking the way the anti-blinging is coming. That xlt chrome package was killing me. So the Harley heads and tails look great compared to those tin foil looking heads and tails.

Now that stupid cargo light.....My truck is gray and that white light sticks out like a sore thumb.....

Not really liking the reviews on the Harley recon cargo light. I wanna maintain a good seal. I don't wanna worry about water issues. I thinkn i may just spray it with a light coat of that lense tinting spray.

Anybody have a thoughts on a new light assembly or spraying the factory one?

Thanks

Do you have a picture of this light on your truck? I've been debating between this and another smoked light.

Plasti-Dip it. One or two light coats on clear plastic turns out like tint. It works real well, it's cheap and if you don't like the finished product you just peal it off. I did the marker lights on my GT500 and they came out great with just one light coat and then a little touch up. They look black when they're off, but the light still shines through them pretty well when they're on. Give it a try. If you've never worked with Plasti-Dip, it's some pretty dam cool stuff and is super simple to use.

I am torn between tinting it myself and adding LEDs. or just spend the money for it done already and know it will turn out clean. I like the Bully one.

I shot mine OEM one with 5 coats of nightshades. Along with 5 coats of clear.
Night Shot? I still want the light to be 'functional' at night when I'm loading up all my hunting and fishing gear in the bed.

Yeah, itlooks like Nite-Shade on the light...but with my experience with Nite shade it tends to dim the light considerably. Thats why I was looking for aftermarket since some of those come wiht LED's and light up the whole bed.

Yes it's Nite shades with stock bulbs. It did cut the cargo lighting a bit but it's the look I was going for. If I need to load at night I will use my headlamp or my Pelican tach light I keep in the truck. Aftermarket would be the best if lighting is a huge need. I just wanted a cheap mod.

My buddy, also a Ford Tech, did a similar thing that Btrow did and its looks good as well. I would recommend just keeping your OEM High mount mainly due to the fact you never really know if your gonna have a water leaking issue with an aftermarket one. It may take some more time and patience but in the end you will be much happier with more peace of mind. Im doing some Ford training now but if you want me to get some pics of his when i get home just let me know.

Btrow that's something serious there. Can you see the lights when they come on?

Yup sure can. The tint is "black" but the red brake light shines through just fine. 5 costs might have been a little much, 3 would have been better but I got carried away haha. I was tinting my mirror reflectors as well and wanted them completely black. I'll try to post a lit night shot in the am before work tomorrow
