Same thing is happening to me at start up around 75000 km. Still on warranty should I take it to the dealer? I have had more boil changes done at a few different places should I have all receipts together before taking it to dealer?

You may want to trade in at this point - you will be farther ahead rather than jumping into the moneypit of Eco maintenance and reliability costs.

Anyone having problems with timing chains AFTER the dealer has installed new ones with all new phasers and everything? I'm buying back my 2011 Eco that I traded with 72k. Guy who bought it was local and just traded it back in with 106 on it. Check engine light just came on when I went to the dealer to see it when I found out my old truck was for sale again. I need a truck and I'm able to swing a 3rd vehicle so I really wanted my old truck back when I saw it. Usually wouldn't buy a truck with this high of miles but I know where most the miles came from and I just really miss that truck! Lol.

So dealer looked into check engine light and they said they are replacing all phasers and timing chain under a TSB. Putting in new plugs and wires, fresh oil and filter and a new battery. I'm hoping with the updated timing chain and stuff I shouldn't have any other issues out of this truck. Best part is all this work they are doing isn't costing me a dime!

It will come back. How soon, anyone's guess. Usually when these engines get taken apart, they never go back together well. Remember, if you have the clicking, the cam phaser came apart and chunks are all over internals chewing it up. I would run away from this headache.

Thats all false info. They do not come apart they wear out. I've had absolutely zero debris in my oil before or after having the repair done.

Haven't seen anyone who has had the repair done have the components fail nor an engine failure afterwards.

Whelp, you completely shot-to-heck Elkhart's "It's-never-gonna-run-right-again-you-have-to-get-rid-of-it-now" argument. :)

Good to hear! I've been looking around online and I'd have to agree that I can't find anyone else with proof of it happening again after the new phasers and chain were installed.

I'm not too worried. All the work will be warrantied by dealer and I purchased extended ford warranty out to 150kmi. This will be a 3rd vehicle for us so it won't get driven everyday so mileage won't be added up quick. Hoping to pick up my truck either tomorrow or might have to wait until Monday if it's not done before I leave town tmw for the weekend

After talking to Amber and getting approved for a rental vehicle I dropped the truck off. It took days for them to free someone up to start it and listen and sure enough they heard it and recommend replacing everything. It's been three days and after multiple messages left and a couple emails I can't find Amber. I hope she's ok, but I really need some answers as to what direction I can take. As it stands I'm not sure if I'll get it back before the lease is up.

Well just got my 2011 SCREW FX4 back from the dealership where they did 16-0027. During their test drive after the fix they also got the high speed shudder with the misfire code so they replaced my plugs and coils as well. Truck seems to be running fine now. Has 82,000 miles so had to pay 3100$ for two well known issues! Stinks. My third ford truck in a row but been disappointed in the ecoboost.

2013 Ford F-150 with 105,000 miles, just had 16-0027 done by the mechanic got it back occasionally making the same noise on a cold start, took it back they checked oil pressure at idle at the pump 15 PSI the spec is 25 PSI.....now they are debating whether a new engine is needed or to just replace the oil pump....

Replaced the A/C compressor in my truck last year, not impressed.

Wow - I would have traded it in before going though this fiasco.

In 2013 I bought a beautiful loaded blue super crew FX4 4x4 only to return it after 3 days for a major factory paint flaw and transmission that went into limp mode on the way to the dealer at 500 miles. They were kind enough to offer to repaint and repair it. Instead I dropped a bunch more money on a white platinum Ecoboost. The factory remote start has been intermittent at best (and duplicated by the dealer twice) to this day. They just flat out washed their hands of it and won't bother with it anymore. Now I have been hearing a little rattle at startup for some time and didn't really pay much attention to it. I should have because at about 63k miles this thing sounds like it's gonna come apart at startup, but then again they never repaired the known problem under warranty so who knows. 3k out of warranty on a known problem (they've had the same problem going back 10 years on their cam phasers in V-8's). Ford tells me they'll split the cost on the repair. So I'm going to take the "deal" and move on. You would think that after all the issues I have had to deal with buying their products that they would want to do something better to make it right and keep me as a customer. I have spent quite a bit of time in cheap rentals while I was paying for this fancy ride. Such a shame as I have been just dreaming of the new Raptor. Hopefully whoever I buy the new truck from will back their product and actually do right by their customers. I thank the reps who troll here for trying but I have found you have no power to do anything other then company PR.

Kinda your fault you never paid attention to it. Not theirs. If you didn't bring the rattle to their attn that's on you buddy.

I brought the remote start issue to them for 3 years and it's still not working. The sad part is I've brought up at an oil change that it ran rough in the morning. Know what response I got? That's common to the motor. I guess he wasn't lieing.
