So random thought while I was looking up the parts, "Ford Actuator is a Genuine OEM Ford Part # AT4Z-6256-B and carries a Two Year Unlimited Mile Warranty backed by Ford." does this mean I have a case?? Parts failed again and I have all the paper work from when it was installed?!?!

Yup, that work they just performed for you is covered by Ford's 2 year warranty.

If it was warranty work the parts have no warranty lol.

Really? damn, so anything you pay for will be covered by a 2 year warranty but if it's ESP it's not. That sucks, so any work you do at the end of your ESP, your pretty much not covered if your ESP runs out week later. Nice.

alright so I need to find out what the latest TSB is on this because I'll make an appointment in the next week to take her in. I've got no codes but this afternoon, she sounded like metal was getting ripped to shreds for couple seconds. Anyone?

I donno I've got my ESP for the next 4 years still, might just sell the truck by then until I'll be taking it in if it comes back. For now I need the latest TSB for this (anyone?) and I'll take it in first time.

A guy who I work with had the TSB done. He says he still gets the rattle. But they won't do anything unless the P0016 code comes back.

There is a guy on f150forum that has had the rattle for a good chunk of miles and never has an issue other than the rattle. His user name is maplelakeduckslayer. Read his posts.

170,000 miles and still rattling. No other issues.
I will just wait till it blows up and then rebuild the entire engine.

mine started just after 55k miles and i'm crossing 85k now. rattled just yesterday but didn't today. i hear it about every other month, its gotten no better or worse since the first time i heard it. i'm not convinced the "fix" by ford is anything than just installing a fresh set of the same parts because they don't really know what is even causing it. too many people getting the problem coming back and a fair number of us who haven't chosen to fix it, and its a mixed bag no problems, sometimes it gets worse, sometimes it doesn't.

like above post - not worth fixing until you're ready do do something else big to the engine. trade it back in to the dealer only while its warm starts only for them to hear. i guess if i was under warranty i would probably have them fix it, but i wouldn't have high hopes yet

You know it starting to get worse when you get timing codes like P0016.

when did yours start at?

I bought it used with 130,000 and it was doing it when i bought it.

I got the truck for about 18k under book value knowing that i needed to fix it.

So instead of fixing it i am just going to leave it alone and see how long it goes. Them rebuild it. No codes on mine yet. When it throws codes i might do something. I hate check engine lights.

The rest of the truck is like new.

Good to know. I got mine with 63k, for $22k which I thought was awesome deal comparing to the rest. It wasn't doing it till about 75k when temps changed going to cold winter mix. I'm guessing it was doing it, why it was traded in. The dealership might of done the very first TSB on it, but like all others with the first TSB the noise came back. When it did, and I read more about it at first I said I was going to let it be. Collect some $$$ and possibly do this in my driveway replacing everything that's needed to fix this for good. However, it got best of me reading more about it. Just the though that's it's within the engine itself I guess.

Anyways, so I got the TSB... paying it off for 12 month type option but I'm covered till 135k. So hopefully when I take it in with my complaint of the noise, before camping, before summer and towing. Hopefully they can replace the good stuff and I'll see if I have the $$$ to ask for them while they are in there to change whatever extra needs to be, like water pump and all. If it's an hour of labor then it's worth it, but the extra parts could become expensive, I yet to find out what extra stuff is there that isn't covered by the latest TSB.

That's where I'm at currently with the truck. Everything else is awesome. Put a tune on it recently and we are flying. Maybe I'll wait till something pops and when it does have them cover it with TSB or if the engine takes a complete dump within the ESP, maybe a new engine will be in place fully covered.

Who knows, we will see. I'll update you guys here too when time comes.

There had been zero maintenance recorded by the dealerships on my vin.

I am guessing mine is still from the factory.

Mine had no records either, had a guy from another forum run an Oasis on my VIN, didn't show a thing either. So my previous post, just assumption of what could of happened since all trucks around, with that mileage were at least 10k more.

Those added parts add up very quickly. Some are more important than others.
