What TSB did you do? I hope my dealership is that obedient lol but they did a good job on that braking recall lol fast and without questions plus inspection.

This tsb actually included an oil change where as the new one doesn't? Anything to save $25 bucks I guess.

Couple stories of seized engines after dealers did the work and customers drove away with no oil change or filter and stuck lol.

So whatever you do make sure you pay them to do a full oil change after the work is complete.

Got it, thanks ? I'm wondering if 15-0131 also has phasers replacement on its list, I think someone else on FB group said that the 16-0027 does have phasers on there.

Not to hijack this thread but anyone got OASIS access? I'm wondering if this has been done on my truck before, if it was the reason why I got a good price on it or why it was traded in.

15-0131 was the original phaser and chain tsb after they finally came to the realization that it wasn't just timing chains going bad. 16-0027 is the update of 15-0131.

Ahhh I see, thanks for the info. Do you know what is updated in 16-0027 TSB? Or is it just the oil change taken out lol

Not 100% but I'm sure you can find a pdf of both and see the diff.

Dropped her off this morning at the Dealer for the TSB 16-0027. They first told me it is probably not the timing chain but another issue that I might have to fix. Like come on, you see the video and I can show you a bunch of comparison videos. I guess we will see if claim gets also approved under the ESP

mine wont do it anymore. I think camping I parked it on a hill nose up a little and didnt start it for 3 days, really want this to happen before warranty is out.

bought my 2013 just over 2 years ago with 55k miles and 2 months in, it did it once. disappeared and then reappears once every couple months but rarely 2 days in a row. 30k miles later (86k on the clock now) and just over 2 years and I haven't heard it happen in a couple of months again. for some people it starts and gets worse, for some of us it never seems to get any worse, even on the cold days, parked uphill days, not driven for a week days, etc.

I'm not convinced anyone here or at ford actually knows what the root cause is. They'll replace some (or lots) of parts, but most of them are the same (but new) parts they took off, not revised part numbers or anything. If .1% of trucks have the problem to start and they simply change out all the parts thinking its some tolerance or unknown issue, then .01*.01% will still show the problem... not enough to really bother root causing it.

I wished mine was repaired under warranty too when it happened, but it also isn't causing me any problems or getting more frequent.

My rattle issue is finally over. My truck went to the dealer 3 times. I have 54,500 miles.

My original rattle was the chain. I would hear it after the truck sat 2+ days.

My first visit they did TSB 16-0027. It was there a few days shy of 4 weeks. About a week was wasted with them trying to hear the noise. 24 hours after getting home from the dealer I heard a rattle on startup. This time I would hear a rattle after the truck sat for 12-24 hours, but not after it sat about 36 hours. I checked my receipt against TSB 16-0027 and they replaced everything listed on the TSB.

My second visit they wasted a few days listening for the rattle. They had another Ecoboost that they completed TSB 16-0027 on. It also had a rattle after the TSB and they replaced the main chain tensioner on it. They guessed that the tensioner would fix mine too. It did not.

My third visit I dropped the truck off one evening. I went back 24 hours later and started the truck for the tech and service advisor. They both heard that rattle and stated that it was pretty loud. The tech immediately said that it was a phaser clacking. They had my truck about 2 weeks. This time I was given a loaner. They replaced both exhaust phasers (again). I have not heard a rattle since.

Mine would have been repaired the first time had it not been for a bad phaser. Everything was covered under warranty.

I also have codes P054A and P054C. Timing advance on cold start up. From what I have figured out, the codes are permanent codes because they are considered emmision codes. They technically should clear themselves after a while, but after about 1,000 miles they have not. I will be dropping the truck back off this week for the codes and rear end howling.

I thought 16-0027 includes the phasers replacement. Sorry to hear you had to do it 3 times. Hope mine comes back after it's first and for good. No one wants to deal with that much time. So far I got the "started it up and didn't hear nothing so I'm heading to my dealer tomorrow after truck sits there overnight.

It does include phaser replacement. I just had bad luck that the brand new one they put in was no good.
Yeah probably same partrs they built these engines at the start, no redesign and so they gone bad. Did you since the repair change anything oil wise or service wise after that rattle went away? I'm trying to see as someone on FB mentioned that he was told by Ford Tech friend that there's a reason why Ford recommends Motorcraft Oil vs all other brands. I'm wondering if there is something in the mix. Then again, that's how much I know about oils too, so. Lol

I haven't changed anything since the repair. I left what they put in it. My first receipt says Motorcraft oil.

So I'm back from the Dealer with my truck. She didn't rattle this morning as I was hoping she would. Anyways, the service forman said he would do it anyways based on my print out of TSB 16-0027 but he stated that Ford Corp released a new TSB in March 2017 that also asks to replace the timing chain tensioner, it's a kit. TSB for that is 17-0026. I've got a print out of it if anyone wants it.

However the kit is backordered so I've got about a week before it comes in, so I guess I get to drive my truck around with rattle still.

Plus the kid as they called him, is off for a week this week. He's the guy that does these there daily in a day.

Well, that's all to report so far. I'm going back in Wednesday of next week hopefully to get both TSBs done. 16-0027 And 17-0026.

Can you post TSB 17-0026?

Sure here it is... other then timing chain tensioner kit, all is the same in terms of parts, oil, etc...

fuel pump gasket and bolt, not sure if that's internal stuff related to fuel or something else being done.
