I thought it was covered till 80k under the emissions

Nope 80k or emissions won't cover it. 100% sure on that one. I tried before, even when I didn't have the noise just to make sure I had 20k till 80k if it happened without buying the ESP. Everyone at Ford said nope and on forums, got the TSB... now I'm good till 138k

That's because it's a bit confusing when you look at the TSB, it states about emission and TSB, etc... on it. So some thought that it wpuupd be covered by the emission warranty but it's not even close. Even with a TSB, still need corporate approval, it's not that easy drive in the dealership and get it fixed under ESP.

I'm hoping that corporate approves it all under my ESP since my dealer is doing both TSBs which is like 20 hours, and 25 parts in total to replace and get, which brings costs probably over $4000 if I paid for it. Fingers crossed I guess, if not, then I'll be looking at another brand.

I dropped mine off for codes P054A and P054C yesterday. I'm curious to see what they find out. The guy that rode with me for another issue said after 3 key cycles the codes should have cleared themselves.

I Agree.

That wasn't the right clip.

With the new TSB for the tensioner being redesigned, which doesn't seem no part store has it and if they do it's on backorder from Ford. So it's backorder for few weeks if you gonna go in and try to fix it with the latest TSB I posted.

I wonder how different this one is vs what was put in. Are these tensioners the ones they got in 2nd gen of ecoboost engines.

Does anyone know the difference between gen 1 and gen 2 of these engines? Big difference? Completely different monsters or what?

Food for thought. I have a slightly sloped driveway I normally park facing uphill and my truck has been making the rattle for 6 months (2011 w/57k miles). This week I backed in so the engine was facing down and the rattle has not happened since doing that. I am not sure of the mechanics of the oil pickup, pump or flow to the tensioner but this certainly made a difference with my truck.

I stopped by the dealer yesterday and they looked it up on Oasis... 60k drive train warranty only covers it. I think that is a total scam. If you drive your truck everyday you may not hear it till it's too late. I found mine after letting my truck sit at the airport for a week, I returned with high humidity, had the windows down and heard it. Thought my cover was loose underneath because they had left it loose before after an oil change. If it wasn't for this forum I would have never known about it. Very disappointed in Ford after this... they should have notified me by mail on the TSB and what to look for. They have just lost a customer for sure... This is my 3rd and last Ford Truck.

What oil filter is installed in your truck?

I am thinking about trading my truck 2011 w/57k with the timing noise. Does the 2013-newer still have this issue. Is there a model year that is in the clear with this problem?
