Oh, a couple of more things, the only other issue is the slip/bump on driveshaft. Says it's a two piece drive shaft issue....its not, one piece here.
After a few thousand miles on the oil change Ford did during the tsb, will go back to full synthetic.
One piece driveshaft is the one with the slip and bump issue, which is usually fixed by cleaning and lubing where the driveshaft slips onto the transmission output shaft. (Ford has a Motorcraft P/N for this).

I had to do my 2 pc too and it was brand new from warranty replacement.

Use ford's XG8 blue Teflon grease.

I just wanted to get back and updated what I received in the 2 “kits” I bought as an experiment.

Everything in them is wrong. Well not everything but the tensioner is wrong, tensioner bolts are wrong (not a big deal, it’s like 89 IN/LB no Tty) and tensioner which must match the proper arm is incorrect arm for tensioner and tensioner to arm.

Confirmed via received 3 ford new oem factory motors to tear down for customers.
1 was a ford Performance crate motor.
1 was a complete long block assembly
1 was a service assembly

***All of the “kits” I ordered on line from companies like tasca, DO NOT have the tensioner I use for my builds**** different arm too now.

It is absurd this is still happening, I have a few customers who are my customers because their motors failed due improper DEALER INSTALLED parts.

If anyone needs a complete and correct timing chain service kit from me, PM me and I’d be happy to put something like that together for a 100% inclusive, and updated parts package. For me to be able to sell this parts set, it’s got to be all the parts in it, not just this and or that. This is likely what it would include off the top of my head
Cam holding tool
New chain idle gear/ AUX pump (cylinder block coolant crossover is what I call it)
Printed copy of removal and installation instructions from ford manual.
Primary Tensioner
Right arm
Left arm
crank gear
2 intake and 2 exhaust phasers
4 cam bolts
4 VCT solenoids
2 secondary timing chains
2 secondary timing chain tensioners
2 secondary timing chain guides
Primary timing chain
Right chain guide
Left chain guide.
6 pcs cylinder head oil tube bolts
Front crankshaft oil seal

And a partridge in a pear tree

Seriously, PM me if your seriously interested only. Anyone can go to a site like tasca and add it all to a cart and have an idea what it will cost. Just they send the wrong parts

Anyway, offers on the table let me know VIA PM only please
Ryan, i will be sending PM now

Does any of you know if the rattling on cold start issue will be covered under warranty on my 2011 EcoBoost at 60,085 Miles? Have you guys heard if Ford has any recalls on it? Because they should! It just don’t make any sense to me that Ford will not take ownership of their bad design parts and labor at their cost! Like I never heard of a freaking issue like this in an engine at only 60k miles. I’m the second owner of a 2011 low mileage EcoBoost 3.5L and I just became aware of the rattling noice on cold start 2 weeks ago and went crazy digging in for info. I wish I was a lawyer because I will open a case on this and get your endorsements for Ford Corp to give us all new engines. Any info if the warranty covers this issue being a 2011 with 60,085 Miles or any Recalls on it will be great! Thank you in advance!

I guess it depends wether you have extended warranty. Basic powertrain warranty is 5yrs or 60K, whichever comes first.

I have a 2011 3.5 Ecoboost. I bought the truck as the second owner with 78,000 miles on it. The timing chain rattling started within 2 weeks of owning the truck. I tried taking back to the dealer and they told me I had to leave it with them until they could hear it. The rattling didn't happen every day, only once in a while. IT appeared to happen more frequently in colder weather and if I let the truck sit for a week or so. I did record the rattling on my phone on 2 different occasions. I dropped my truck off last week to have them do the lead frame and told the service advisor about the rattle. When I showed him the video, he told me "No problem, we can have the timing chain issues replaced under extended warranty", which I have. I only have 200 miles left on my warranty and figured I needed to have this repaired so I am not out with a blown up motor or any other issues. My service advisor just called me and told me the inspector showed up and started the truck and it didn't rattle. Not sure what they are going to do. I called MPP warranty and they told me they aren't doing anything until the inspector gives them his written report. I called the dealer I bought the truck from and they told me they will not do anything to the truck until their technicians hear the noise for themselves. Even if it takes a month or longer at their shop. I call BS on this whole mess. The TSB states that if the owner of the vehicle hears the rattle, it should be repaired by the service dept. The sad part is, one dealer is accepting my video and the other I snot. But neither seem to want to do the repair without their techs hearing the rattling.

Just heard from the warranty dept today. They are refusing to cover mine because the inspector they sent out started the truck and the timing chain did not rattle. They don't care about my video proof of it happening. Looks like I am going to have to try and escalate the matter with the dealer. If no acceptable response is given, I may speak to my attorney. Any ideas or thoughts about how to go about getting them to actually abide the extended warranty? MPP is who I have the extended warranty with and the truck is still under warranty with MPP. But only for 200 more miles.

I'm willing to bet there is fine print protecting them from providing coverage based on nothing but a video. Videos can be faked.

I think you're effed. Sucks. Aftermarket warranties are a waste of money as they almost never ever pay out unless the engine is actually blown.

I'll have to speak to the service advisor that convinced me to leave it with him and he swore everything would be covered, no problem. He had them replace the lead frame due to the transmission shift indicator not working and said no problem, it is covered. Only to find out, he had the service guys replace and repair the trans before he ever called the warranty guys and got approval. MPP warranty is saying they are not covering the trans work because the work was completed prior to them being able to inspect the truck, and that I am on the hook for that bill as well. The service advisor hasn't even contacted me yet to tell me any of this. I found all this information when I called MPP to inquire the status of my truck being in the shop for over a week with no response from anyone. I will be trying the hold the service advisor at his work for the transmission work. Not sure how well that will go over either.

Park your truck at the dealership for 2 days, show up on second the minute they open, grab 2 mechanics, take em to your truck and start it. If there's no rattle, then I don't know what your problem is.
Mine would sit overnight, in my driveway, and rattle EVERY morning I started it!

That's the problem. My truck doesn't do it every morning. It seems to only happen when the temp outside is very cold. It ha happened, when the weather is cold, every morning. As the weather warms, the rattle is gone. It also would do it just prior to on oil change. After oil change, no rattle. It is still at the dealer and they are trying to figure it out. The service manager heard it the other day and he is trying to get it fixed via extended warranty. We will see. Going on 3 weeks at a dealer service dept.

DISCLOSURE: I don’t recommend or condone this, but here is a suggestion.

Run a hair thicker winter weight oil. 10w30 if not and it still is a silent ninja with no rhyme or reason to when or why the clacking happens perhaps try a 0W30 or SAE30 oil and it will drainback faster. Thicker winter weight oil will pick up and pressure the motor slower but will also (maybe) drain back slower)

Don’t listen to me. [emoji851]

In conclusion, don't even read this post. Lol

Great example/proof. I’ll be surprised if they accept this as grounds for a warranty repair. All depends upon your relationship with the dealership.
