They are going to band aid the issue instead of fixing the problem (lead frame). What a joke.

Exactly. And what about the trucks that had the whole lead frame module replaced because of this exact same problem (2 times) one out of warranty and one I paid for out of my own pocket and all they are doing is an update ....are you kidding me. Boy! Do they have this ****en **** rigged! Or their hands in the pockets of someone!

Are they going to cover the real issue?.. which is the lead frame. Mine wasn’t in the recall back in the day??

I wonder if I even have a chance of recouping my money?

They are wording this...so, they don’t have to pay all the people that had their lead frame module replaced. That’s why it’s a reprograming thing? I’m calling BS.

Basically they are telling the computer to work around the problem!!..

So, when I had to pay 800$ for all new parts, and it fixed the problem, they ripped me off and it was as simple as a reprogram?. I will be pissed if they fight it. I have been through this twice and think of all the unnecessary wear on my truck.

Thank you for all the people that took time to complain about the issues, like myself!.

And congratulations @milesej05 on your mod position. long overdue.

Yep! that’s a different issue for sure!. I had my lead frame replaced twice because of this. Most of the issues weren’t that bad but definitely shifting issues, not a shudder!. What happens is it will just randomly drop down from 5th to 1st and locking up the wheels. It happened to me only a few times. Once I had a school buss almost rear end me, because the truck wouldn’t take off from the light and was in limp mode.

I only was charged 800$ from the last fix in 2017 and it’s been great every since. I know how updates are and not sure if I want to fix something that’s not broke, plus im tuned.

I will definitely go after a refund but by the way they “worded it”, most likely it won’t happen. [emoji2959][emoji2959].

They just told me that my 2017 repair for this won’t get covered.

Now for the people, we need to have a class action lawsuit! To recoup peoples hard working money, I’m calling BS on fords behalf [emoji2959][emoji2959].

Thanks. I dropped my regular dealerships and only went to this dealership once or twice. I am not a regular and thank god I don’t need to be one. Lol.

It shouldn’t matter they shouldn’t hold favoritism for regulars. I don’t care who it is, that’s garbage but thanks. I will call ford directly and file a complaint and if enough people call just maybe they will revise the recall to start refunding people.

its at the dealer's discretion on how they want to use it..its called customer loyalty program...the dealer is going to be more apt to use it for the regular customer who bought their vehicle(s) there, and brings them there for everything vs a customer who just comes there for warranty / recall work. plus its a limited amount that each dealer gets per quarter once its gone...its gone. Plus if you go in the dealer and stomp your hands and feet like a 2 year old. They are probably going to also say call ford rather than be willing to help

I highly HIGHLY doubt ford changes the recall
The reason why I changed dealers (that is where I bought it from) was because of this exact issue with the trans, they wanted to charge me double of the same thing from another ford dealer. I don’t call them dealerships anymore, I call them stealerships and I run far away from them, never to come back.

^^That’s what I’m worried about. I’m the type of guy that “if it’s not broke don’t fix it” attitude. Also I just put my tune on the truck and it’s running smooth as a baby’s a@@ I don’t want to mess with it right now.
@djfllmn you seemed to have a inside connection or you work for Ford. My question is can we fix this problem when ever? Lets say I don’t want to fix it right now how long do I have to get this update done?.
Can I wait 5-10 years? Or do they expire? Thanks in advance.

Just watched the vid from #105... I was told by the stealership that Iâ€[emoji769]ve got a broken “bulkhead connectorâ€ that is leaking about a month before this latest recall was publicized.

Do we know yet the real cause of the failure/recall? Robcincy (at#94) mentioned a leaky connector as a possible cause yet that a reprogram is the initial fix.

Be nice to get some straight answers from Ford... wonâ€[emoji769]t hold my breath though what with their record (CAC condensation fixed?!)
From my two times I had this fix done, I don’t know about the first one, but the second time at the stealership in 2017, they said that the bulk connector was not leaking and that they (ford) did upgrade the connector to a better plastic, so it wouldn’t crack. So, I do not believe it’s just a leaky bulk head connector? .

My thoughts is that they worded it as an “update” to the software to fix this ( to work around this problem) is just a bandaid or a quick fix. And now they don’t have to pay all the people that had their lead frame module replaced by ford, because of the issues.

If they aren’t going to reimburse me for my fix ( 800$) in 2017, I will be taking them to small claims court.

I just got mine in the mail. It’s says that the reprogram with the new software will “prevent” an unintended downshift into first gear in the event of an intermittent OSS failure.

It will not fix the issue permanently?. Its only to keep it from downshifting into first gear. It doesn’t mean that the lead frame will not have other issues along with the new update, it’s just a bandaid.

Got my letter yesterday too. I have a concern however. If the software is reprogammed to be more "accepting" of a loss of signal before downshifting, what does that mean when the part REALLY fails? I mean what if the sensor just flat out dies? How will I know?
At the time the lead frame would act up, my odometer, the miles to empty, and the average fuel would go to dashes. And for some reason the air bag light would be on. Oh and most important the speed odometer needle didn’t work.

I have had that too. Dealer says it's just a flash, and no parts.
Said I'll be in and out in an hour.

So..I did get the new flash recall in the mail ..but after waiting like 6 months I got another recall for the lead frame mod and I got all my money back for the last repair on the lead frame. And I never did get the flash update because my truck has a tune on it and it hasn’t acted up on my. I’ll wait to see if it acts up again before I do anything but at least the lead frame is covered till 150k for me.
