I have a 2012, heard about the recall and called my dealership. the letters aren't supposed to be given until March but figured I'd check into it. gave my vin, and sure enough it was at fault. scheduled an appointment and dropped it off yesterday. got a call an hour later saying they didnt have the programming info but that turned out that it was only for the 2013 eco. they said that one would be a couple months. if that helps anybody.
but also I had mine done and I'm here to shed a little light I guess. they reprogrammed and I've had it a day now and it cant seem to figure out what it wants to do. first drive out of the dealership it wanted to lag in shift changes. I had to let off the gas for it to switch to each gear. then on slowing down didnt start to down shift until I slowed from 55 to about 30.
next start up seemed a little better, first to 2nd was decent, jerked a little into 3rd. then fine to 4th and 5th. then in 5th I'm going 55 at 4700 rpm trying to get it into 6th. let off the gas, rpm dropped slowly to 2500, remained in 5th gear going 40 mph then gassed back up switching to 5th and 6th like normal. again still not downshifting until almost stopped.
third start up was this morning. figured heading to work I'd just floor it and see what happens. again the same with the jerking into 3rd, and hesitation into 6th but finally kicked in without having to slow back down but still had to let off the throttle. same downshift issue.
leaving work this afternoon I floored it again. little different this time. in first gear the acceleration was good, got in 2nd and it was like there was a delay in the turbo. I'd say around 3 seconds. but when the turbo kicked in it was like power I've never felt before out of my truck. going into 3rd and so on had the same delay then bam there it is. this round I got up to 55 before I even shifted into 3rd but the rpms seemed normal in the exchanges again except from 5th to 6th. still wont hit that final click just right.
but now to talk about idle and cruising speeds. normal parked idle around 1000. cruising through town at 45mph I'm sitting at 1900 rpm in 6th showing 28 mpg. 55mph at 2000 ranging 16mpg. then 70 to 80mph on the interstate, rpm still cruising at 2000, doesnt seem to slightly fluctuate like normal. at 70 its 2000, 75 its 2000, 80 its 2000. tried 85 and it goes to 2100. but those speeds ranging around 17 mpg maybe. according to my display anyway. my normal is anywhere around 18 and 22 highway, 16 to 18 city. and to add to the 45 mph at 28 mpg, when I got up to 45, I took my foot off the gas. my truck continued to remain at 45mph and the 1900 rpm for half a mile or so until I put my foot on the brake. thus giving my a mpg somewhere over 30. that's the highest itll show me.
so in other words, I'm not sure how to go about it. I know there is a relearn period, not sure how long that is. but most like have to call the dealership back. it could be relearning, the program could be a bust, or I could have an eco programmed like a 5.0. I'm not very sure at this point
