I'm new to the ecoboost and want to know. What is the best way to make my turbo whistle louder. With that said I'm happy with the performance I don't want to have to tune the truck.
Thanks guys

Really these trucks don't have alot of turbo whistle, the best advice I could give would be a catless downpipe, straight pipe all the way back. Or bigger turbos... I've got my 2.7 straight pipe and really only hear the snails with the windows down.

Hey, don't make fun, I bought one of those from JC Whitney and added 25 horsepower to my truck! Any of you guys old enough to remember the JC Whitney catalogs that promised "better MPG" and "more horsepower" on any thing from hubcaps to fog lights???

Well then you don't get more turbo then.

I want to try an intake "upgrade" so bad I can't stand it. Due to the way it sounded on my old truck. But, if all it does is add to the "WHOOOOOSSSHHHH" sound. Nothing like turbos I've ever heard before.

I think Supras and some Subarus can sound good.

I don't really understand this. If you aren't going to get some actual performance benefit messing with the engine stuff is a terrible idea. the main problems i have is the noise coming from the tires when i go full throttle too soon.

Plus try taking a long road trip with the family; radio turned down and the wife says...."what's that noise?"
"You mean that continuous swirling rushing noise coming from the intake tubes"-lol
I couldn't wait to put them back in!

So you guys named remove the swirly fins. I did. You can tell, a little, with the windows down. I hear nothing with them up.

Also. A different air box is generally regarded as not much performance upgrade for the money. But since a lot of them pretty much remove some of the box. Whistle increased. Or you can mod the box with a stock filter.

Anyway. Just saying. I wanted more whistle, but I did the fins and didn't want to mess with the air box, or spend the money.

I too like turbo whistle. Unfortunately our turbos are mounted really low, practically beneath the truck. That's why we don't get much whistle. I've done pretty much everything except the down pipes and still really can't hear them unless the windows are down.

Intake is really what makes them loud. My truck has always whistle fairly loud with both turbo setups.

I blame the AFE intake.

For you guys that are vta and want more whistle... Instead of capping the cold side pipe, connect a hose and run it into the cab. That aught to give you some whistle.
