Love my 87 performance tune from livernois. Just drove 1000 mile round trip this weekend after I installed it thur. Definitely better than stock and got 20.5 mpg! That's old fashioned calculated not the lie o meter! Shifts are great and will eventually try the 89 as well as the 93 tune! Totally worth it to me

Here is a runfile of my custom tuned dyno tune as promised. Note the green is the before tune pull. Very good numbers there already with an AFE stage 2 intake and heartthrob exhaust. Proof to me that just those mods will produce good rear wheel gains. The blue is with the custom tune. All I have to say is WOW! what a truck! it is better in every aspect. Tows better, better gas milage, shifts better and just is way better. I was happy before but now am ecstatic! I am 100% satisfied and confident that I did the best I could for the truck. Again I must say though, had I not the opportunity to go the custom route,Livernois would have been my choice in tuners. That said, I spent $1000 to have what IMO is the best money can buy. I know it cost me $350 more then the Livernois would have cost me up here but for me it was worth every penny to see it done first hand and to see my truck on the dyno. before tune: 340 rwhp& 387rwtrq. With custom tune: 365rwhp & 461rwtrq...notice the range of rpm it stays over 350hp! This is with 91 octane as well. I can not find 93-94 octane consistently. I always run 91 for that reason. Now I can break the tires loose at 25mph and if I really want to she will chirp going into second! makes me giggle all the time. Thanks to Niel at Horsepower Solutions,Edmonton Alberta. He knows his stuff for sure! He built a turbo
zephr that runs a quarter in 7 seconds 198mph! Who does that to a zephr! talk about sleeper.lol looks like grandma`s car.

i have followed this whole thread and find it so amazing the gains you can out of these engines with so little of a modification
who would have thought !
so here is my question now
you said $1,000 for the tune and how much funding was required for intake and exhaust upgrade ?
whats next are you gunna upgrade the turbos next yr for another $1,100 ?

For a Livernois tune and Airaid intake (very solid combo) it's $800. Fx4 4fun did a dyno tune (more expensive to get the dyno pulls completed). Exhaust ranges from $300-700, depending what extents you go to.

LOL. I am happy with what I have done so far. should be good for awhile....I think getting those cats off will be the next logical step. I am thinking of going with a down pipe but not for a while. I like to do things in stages that way I appreciate the changes more. I payed $350 for the intake and I think it was $650 for the exhaust. Everything costs a little more up here in Canada. The turbos will get massaged eventually. I am very happy with the truck now and will not sacrifice reliability for power. So far so good....

im torn between a cold air intake and an exhaust !
i like trucks with a little noise but i still have a bad tastes in my mouth from the 2004 with 4.6l triton i traded on this eco
i had put a Borla duel exhaust on it and really liked the deep tone and deep rumble but then i wasnt happy enough and put an S&B cai on it and from then on it roared under WOT to a point that was annoying.
im 40 yrs old now not 16 anymore.
i just dont have any experience with 6 cylinders and i do know they can be tough to get a good sound from.
im considering Borla but they are the most expensive and then you have Roush and Hearthrob that are moderately priced

An intake alone provides minimal performance gains, while the exhaust can allow for much less restriction. The biggest issue comes with exhaust is exactly what you said.. they are tough to get good sound from.

I agree that it will never sound like a V8. I have gotten lots of compliments from the sound of my truck if that helps you. I personally like the sound to. To be honest,it does have a little drone in the cab but I don't find it bad and I am 42. I have about 22000miles on it and I think it sounds better now then when I put it on. hard to get good sound bytes of an exhaust on a computer I find. I wonder what if any difference the sound would be with a shorter truck. I have the 4"heartthrob on mine.

im seriously considering the MBRP 4" duel out the back but im scared a little because i havent heard anything aftermarket on an eco in person yet only the clips on youtube

I've had the Livernois tunes for over 30000 miles and used mostly the 87 and 89 tow tunes. I always thought the 87 tunes were weaker than I hoped for but made the shifting better. After installing my Full Race exhaust and Wagner intercooler, the lag seemed to get worse , especially if I punched it at 50 to pass. I tried the 91 tune and it was awesome. Tried the 87 performance tune and the flat spot was back. I finally got an SCT tuner and loaded the 87 tune and bingo! My lag was gone, the truck now is a rocket, not at the level of the LMS 91, but way better than the LMS 87 tunes. I had read the the SCT was the standard (not the fastest) for tunes and now I believe it. Plus I can now get a custom tune if I want.

SCT is very popular and many people go with that option. There are many great tuning options with the purchase of an SCT. My Mustang was tuned by an SCT so I can't complain!

I am very happy with my Livernois tune (as I've stated in this thread) and the customer service provided by LMS.

Quick question to address my confusion: I didn't think Livernois uses a SCT tuner? I thought they had a proprietary tuner as shown on their web site? What am I missing?

I still have and SCT X3000 unlocked adn unmarried. Can I use it to load Livernois tunes??

An update.....

The 87 was very smooth and still had the spool noise when gassing it. It maintained a very "stock" feel as it shifted perfect, never had transmission kicks, and ran very smooth overall. The every day feel of the truck was incredible and felt like a very well produced tune. The truck felt like this was the way the truck should be. The 87 was quick and had plenty of get up.

i ran the LMS 87 octane tune for a while to get a true feel of the difference. I did not get any video or dyno comparison, only "seat of your pants dyno." First notice when switching from 87 to 93 octane was an increase in turbo spool noise under regular driving. The truck drove very similar to the 87 octane for regular driving. There were no transmission kicks or jerky throttle movements. The truck was very smooth and very predictable.
I decided to give a 3-4 second punch (not quite to 60, as this was on a public road). I did not make it through the entire power band. I have 305/55/20 M/T and from a slight roll, with no boost build up, the truck chirped the tires immediately in first then again when switching to second. The truck shifted around 6300 RPMs and was very smooth. No kick, no apparent over revving. The truck never flattened out on RPMs.

I was thoroughly impressed at the power gain from 87 to 93. It was a night and day difference. As time goes on, I'll attempt to replicate the driving conditions for an every day mpg comparison at regular speeds.

This was with the LMS 93v2 tune. Still waiting for LMS to send me the 93x.
