I don't want to get rid of my truck, but I really need a 3/4 ton. I've started a little side business that requires a lot of towing and I'm limiting myself with the 1/2 ton.
I've maintained it with the intention of keeping it forever, I assume that doesn't mean much to a potential buyer.
I wanted to get a gut check on my pricing thoughts.. just to be sure I'm not way off. Ideally I can get a quick sale, the truck is paid off and I want to use it's value as the down payment on the next one.
So.. 2018 F150 2.7 4x4 Screw 5.5' bed with 120k miles. It started out as an STX truck, but there isn't much left of the original STX package so I'd call it a regular old XL. (just the sync, paint match bumpers and seats).
It's got a few modifications, and I do not intend on reverting them (depending on the stock part I don't have it, or I don't really have the time to wrench right now).
stage 3 turbos and the 3" exhaust are the big ones to name.. It runs great on the stock tune, but the tuner would go with it.
The mods are to my taste, and they may not be up to other's standards so I want to price lower than market. I plan on losing money on this, that's just what it is.
KBB says the truck is worth 16K in private sale. I was thinking about throwing it out there for 13k.
Is my approach wrong? I see folks listing modded trucks for way over value, but they don't seem to sell. If I go low, am I giving the perception that something is wrong with it? It's got rough spots, but in general it's a very solid truck.
Or.. should I go lower? Honestly, I'd take 10k for it if that's what it's worth.. It's given me years of trouble free service (aside from a few hiccups that were not the truck's fault)
I'm planning on purchasing private party, so a trade in value doesn't really mean much.
DISCLAIMER: This is not a for sale post, this is a question of value and not a question of do you want to buy it.
