Safety Issue Type: Recalls
April 11 2025 NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V236000
Loss of Brake Function from Brake Fluid Leak
A brake fluid leak can cause reduced brake function and extend the distance required to stop,
increasing the risk of a crash.
NHTSA Campaign Number 25V236000

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln
Navigator vehicles. The brake master cylinder may allow brake fluid to leak from the front
wheel circuit into the brake booster.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder. If the master cylinder is leaking, the brake
booster will also be replaced. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification
letters are expected to be mailed April 28, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at
1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S37. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA
recall number 22V-150.

Wonder if this will be coming for Canada as well?

Little later than the thaw but I received my letter yesterday! No parts right now though...
Bummer.
Out of curiosity, was there a tariff stamp added to the envelope? 💲💲

Nope but Ford might want me to pay the tariff cost on the parts.... :ROFLMAO:

I got this notice in the mail for my 2014. At first I thought it was just a TSB and maybe not something they would cover out of warranty (recall), but I did call the dealer and asked about it. Dealer said it is indeed a recall and will be fixed at no cost to me.

Now that I think about it, I did have a few instances while driving when I needed to slam the brakes hard and I was shocked because the pedal almost went to the floor / was soft and I barely slowed down in time to avoid an accident. The other day I got more curious, so I started my truck in the driveway (195,000 miles on it right now) and pumped the brakes up and then held pressure on it. To my surprise and disappointment, the pedal slowly goes down, almost to the floor if I keep pressure on it (not pressing super hard, just 'firm'). Yikes.

Dealer said I'll get a notice when parts are available/when it can be scheduled. All this time...I just thought the truck had crappy brakes overall. Didn't realize it was truly a major problem like it really is.

By the way, my brake fluid level is ALWAYS on max. Never low. The fluid is not leaking out anywhere. Only time it gets added is during a brake pad change. It's never been low or down from the Max fill level ever since I bought it in 2014.

As far as the rest of my truck, like I said I'm at 195,000 and still on the original timing chain. I RARELY get the startup rattle, but I HAVE heard it several times, over a long period of time. I'm keeping an eye on the timing with my little Bluedriver tool to see if it's getting close to being out of spec, but so far from what I can determine, it's still OK for now. I count myself lucky. I had a quote for a little over $5,000 to have all that work done (I was curious of the price). I'm hoping it'll last long enough until I am ready to buy a new car. I'd like to keep the truck as an occasional use thing and no longer drive it unless I need it, but that'll be a few more years at least. I don't drive it on vacations anymore. Too worried something is going to go wrong.

Overall it's been good to me. Only thing I've really done is regular maintenance (I use Hot Shot Secret Stiction Eliminator every time in the old also) and I've replaced all the coils once as well. That's really it. Just routine maint.
