Anyone expirence a dead battery since using an ScT X4 tuner and leaving it plugged into the OBD port for an extended amount of time? I use it as guages and have a mount for it. My Raptor sat for 3 weeks and battery was drained where it turned over very slow. It did it last october about a month after i got the tuner. I got a new battery thinking battery was getting ready to go. Installed new battery and no issues till now. The Battery I removed in October I kept put a good charge on it. Load tested it with a 500 amp tester 3 times in 5 min and it passed . Odessey battery. I am going to put a good charge on battery in the truck ,and leave X4 unplugged and monitor battery drain. Seeing if anybody else this has happened to. If you drive your truck everyday i dont think it will be an issue. The x4 goes in standby mode when key is off , but it still must be a moderate drain after 3 or 4 weeks.

Dont leave any device plugged into the obd2 port as that port has a constant power feed and it will eventually flatten your battery sir

There is a bit of a fix available to help keep the battery charging better. I experienced Low Battery during winter with my Livewire (all accessories were on due to long cold nights).

There is some "power saving" settings to cycle the alternator to increase fuel economy in the PCM. I had Torrie @ Unleash do some changes to the settings and my Low Battery issues were fixed ... even in Winter.

And yes, I too leave my Livewire hooked up to the OBDII port (during the daytime when I go to work). At night, I unplug it and take it inside (too many thieves where I live).

Thanks for the info, i have the low battery warning light mostly during winter also. I have the OBD2 Dongle always plugged in. Good to know that a tuner can tweak the settings!

I had an Edge programmer plugged into a 2007 F150 and it drained the battery in just seven days. Found out the hard way.

Yep made sure battery was fully charged , then left the SCT unplugged for a week. Battery was .1 volt lower than when i started. If i drive truck every day i leave it plugged in.

And to add to Miles explanation, a number of guys will load a CONFIG onto their SCT device so they can monitor more "engine vitals" while they are driving. Like an "expanded gauge package".

By constantly monitoring your engine vitals, you often can notice certain items that are "out of the ordinary" to indicate you have a problem developing; and hopefully fix it before it becomes a serious problem.

On a prior vehicle, I started to notice incidents of "knock counts" on an engine that was fully tuned for both WOT and partial; the engine seldom showed ANY knock counts. I could not actually hear anything.

I immediately investigated and discovered I had a main bearing that was starting to go. I was able to replace the bearings, prolong the life of the engine and avoided a nasty failure. I then started to put money aside and plan for a proper rebuild of the engine down the road.

I know the thread is 5 years old but just experienced the same issue with my SCT, glad I found this thread to confirm my suspicions! Going to put my smart charger on it for the second time in just over a month and put a note on the dash to disconnect after driving, about the only time I use my truck lately is for hunting and fishing since I have worked from home since March of last year.

Honestly OBD link, OBD fusion, or forescan lite Are all much better for datalogging then the sct x4. The only PID I haven’t been able to get on any of those apps is airflow. Everything else meaningful as they are in the interface is way better
