Dropped mine off at the dealership last night. Took a ride with the service manager and explained what was going on. On our test ride, I was able to get it to make the same noise as in the video here. Then he asks me if it makes the same noise on incline and when going from Drive to Park. Mine has done that on several occasions, but usually stops in a second or two. The service manager says he has seen one other case and they found the transmission fluid was low. They are checking out the tranny fluid level now.
Good to hear! Let me know if this solves it. My dealer is going to do a TSB repair, but waiting on parts.

Yeah let us know if its the fluid level!

I couldn't imagine my level being low after only 1,000 miles but who knows

Just a quick update - picked my 2013 FX4 up at the dealership this morning. Service manager said that the transmission fluid was .75 quart low. Is it possible they are coming from the factory with low tranny fluid? Drove about 15 miles to work in stop and go traffic with no issues. I'm going to give it a few days and see what happens. I'll report back next week.

They have had my truck going on 5 days now with no luck. I will recommend something as simple as that to them. I don't see that being the fix, but would be nice if it was something simple like that! My dealership hasn't been the easiest to work with on the issue though....

Got my truck back after five days. They still haven't fixed the problem. They moved the transmission line and wrapped it thinking it might've been rubbing. They also topped off my transmission fluid, so that knocks the other fix we thought it might be. They also keep claiming they can't reproduce the problem even though when I brought it there I had one of them come out and listen to it while it was doing it. I am pretty fed up at this point. I've owned the truck for 3wks and it's been in for service for over 13 days.

That's garbage. Mine still makes the noise but Im almost sure it has to do with the brakes. When I press the brake pedal it starts buzzing. I thought it had to do with putting it in and out of gear. But I put the parking brake on and shifted into a gear and it didn't make the noise. Still scratching my head though.

Well I have been cruising without touching the brake and the noise started and kept making the noise until 6th gear. I'm puzzled.

It has to be something with the gear change. It only happens to me when changing gears. It has been more aggressive now then it has ever been. But I took the truck on a 800 mile road trip over the weekend and noticed it did it a lot more. The fact that Ford doesn't have an answer is getting very upsetting to me....especially after I spend $45,000 on a new truck because I was trading in my old Ford Taurus SHO because it had nothing but problems!!!!!!

I have a 2013 xlt 4x4 offroad scab with about 5200miles on it. it is doing the same exact noise. called the dealer yesterday (about a different issue with the tires) and explained to them what the noise sounded like. the service guy said they have had a few issues with something similar and that they have replaced the brake module(?? don't remember the correct name). I hope to find out something this coming week, but everything I have read said that it had to do with the brakes. mine only does it when I put it in park with the engine running.

Wow, it's not surprising that there are others with the same issue. I have a 2013 f150 fx4. It started making the whirring noise just like is described. I also went to ford and when I could not reproduce the noise on demand that " if the check engine light is not lit, it is within ford spec"!!!!! What a joke of an auto maker. What is it going to take for Ford to put more time into engineering than propaganda?? I currently own 4 Ford trucks in addition to the fx4 so I am not just ford bashing. I am tired of dealers without enough training to sell or service their own vehicles.

Sorry to rant. I too am looking for a proper fix to what appears to be more "lowest priced manufacturing" issues.

My 2012 ecoboost has been making a whirrrring noise for quite sometime. Just lately it's gotten a lot worse. I found on another f150 website a lot of other people were having the same issue. The noise is coming from the driver side front under neath the air filter box. The culprit it seems to be the vacuum pump that helps with braking and locking the hubs in. This is only on the ecoboost engine apparently. I'm getting alittle annoyed cause this is the second issue that has arisen within 4000km after the warranty has run out on my f150. The first was a turbo solenoid that literally failed within 500km after the warranty ended.

I have just ordered a new vacuum pump and going to install asap!! Will update if it improves after I replace it. I'm hopeful!!

I remember a month ago i was parked nose up and i went from park to drive and had a grrrr noise so i went to park to reverse and same thing. After that i took truck in a nd no noise no nothing. I havent had noise sinse. But now every so often mostly shifting from 3rd and 4th i get a humming grrrr sound. It happens once o drive cycle.Im gonna check fluid in tranny to make sure.

So for the last couple days my truck hasn't been making that noise, but then on my drive home from work today the E brake light went on and in the display in the dash read " check brake system". I didn't loose any braking power and when I got home I turned my truck off and started it again and everything cleared up. The E brake light was off and the display didn't read check braking system. Hope the new vac pump shows soon. I'm starting to regret going with the ecoboost, cause the only problems I have had have been with components that are only park of the ecoboost system. I'll be going with the 5 liter next time.

I have a 13 fx4 super cab and mine does the same thing but usually when I put it in park. If you put in reverse and then back to park it usually stops. Mentioned it to dealer that it sounded the same as abs tone so they checked the f'inf brakes!
Brakes are fine ( no ****) to me it sounds like a solenoid

eh all, I have the same issue that sometimes comes up when I shift into park, and sometimes think I hear it while driving but mostly when shifting to park. I usually tap the gas just lightly and it goes away. I know revving in park isnt the greatest thing but that was the only way I could stop it... I was curious if it could be a BOV getting stuck slightly open and it is the sound of air passing thru a small passage way. When giving it a lil gas maybe things get freed and settle back to normal? I am no mechanic tho but I think I may go to my dealer to get this issue on record just incase I get close to warrenty when the sound really starts to go bad. I have a 2013 FX2 with currently 16000kms on it. I have been hearing just after receiving it FO. I doesnt sound like it is something bad tho, it almost sounds like a leak in a vacuum somewhere like most you are stating.

Ill let you know if I find a solution to the issue eventually. I am not letting the dealer tinker with my truck till they and I know 100% where it is coming from.

Thanks for all of the posts here... Ill def be saying "no it isnt that" to most of the things you guys have said on here if they try to suggest any of them.

I have been making note as to when my 2013 EB is making the noise and it appears to be more pronounced when the temperature outside is much cooler than the air in the engine bay. My thought is there is a improperly supported inter cooler pipe that when the vehicle is on an incline and/or the air temp difference is great enough a seam is leaking as to allow air in or out. I have noticed this noise in most cool weather driving conditions but not when it's hot outside. This also my thought as to why Ford can't figure it out. They bring it in a warm bay to poke at it and it won't make the noise. Any thoughts?

So for the last week while I've been waiting for the new vacuum pump to show up every morning when I'm driving to work it has been around -5 C and about ten minutes into my drive a chime goes off in my truck and the display has "check brake system". I just kept driving to work and no issues. At the end of the days all but one of the days had been around the +10-15C range and I wouldn't get the alert on my display, but the one day it stayed cool the alert came on right away. My replacement showed up on Friday but I didn't get it changed out till today, easy peasy remove three screws and pop the headlight out and the vac pump is right there. Remove two nuts from underneath ( had to get to them from the wheel well), the entire job took less than an hour. It stayed chilly for most of the day and I drove it around for awhile and I had no alerts pop up.

Terrible seal job on the plastic on the vacuum pump, it's gappy as all hell it's no wonder it started fouling on me, you can see where the road salt has made it way into the pump.

Will update tomorrow after my drive to work cause it's supposed to be cool in the morning.
