Little bit of troubling hauling a trailer this weekend.

Engine and Wrench symbol flashed, codes about the transmission range sensor flashed (actually this happened later when I scanned it), went into safe mode. Wouldn't start after letting it cool, disconnected battery for 10 min, wiped the codes and it ran but did go into safe mode a couple of times for a minute while travelling, then cleared, all while continuing slowly home without a trailer. Transmission stayed cool, normal operating temp on the way home. Now it won't start again, gear letters on the dash are dark, says truck isn't in park.

It is a 2016 F150 XLT, 3.5 EcoBoost, 155,000km

Is it the the #SW5713 Manual Level Position Neutral Safety Switch/Range Sensor that is at fault? Rockauto SW5713
Or is it a bunch of stuff that could be at fault?

Welp. I was expecting to see a sensor/relay/module when I dropped the skid protector type cover over the transmission but it does not appear to be where I thought it would be located. Does this mean it's internal? Maybe this is better left to the guys at the dealership

Thanks guys.

The part I mentioned previously from Rockauto is incorrect and doesn't work for my truck. My bad on the quick Google search.

Other reading suggests, like you guys are saying, the lead frame could be at fault. That could be trouble. I've been good about scheduled maintenance but it may not matter.

I'll schedule something with the dealership and let them troubleshoot this, I'm not set up for major transmission issues.

Any news on lead frames backorders or arrivals?

I found the whole valve body that I could replace and hopefully fix my problem but I don't want to commit to the extra 300-400 hundred bucks if the smaller part is just around the corner.

Any industry inside info coming from Ford?

If you provide your VIN and mileage to a Ford Parts department - they will emergency order a LeadFrame for you. It will still be a few days but much faster than waiting weeks.
Do you have a contact? I'm in Canada but even a US number may help.

My dealership has been very slow to respond and telling me they have no delivery time from Ford on any of these. Been sitting for two weeks now, I'm renting a truck for work and I'm frustrated. I've sourced a valve body myself and will gladly provide it for install but even then it is a week out. As for lead frames, last I was told by a supplier is there is nothing in stock in North America.

Thought I'd update this.

Got a whole valve body instead of just the faulty lead frame module. $300-$400 more in parts but the same in labour. Found it myself since the dealership wasn't helping and had them install it. Valve body was stock but the frames were over 1000 on backorder. It was still a big bill but at least it's all under some warranty. No transmissions troubles with 14,000KM on the new frame. It was out of service 3 weeks which was huge for me as I use the truck for work.
