The zone lighting feature was not a huge draw for me though it is nice to have since I do have it.
I have turned it on using Ford Pass. I specifically remember using it from in my house just before going out to clear some snow last winter. I was doing something outside last week and thought this would be a helpful time to turn those on but they would not work........ instead I got a message that said "Start vehicle to feature" So what gives here?

I don't think it's bluetooth because I went to to mess around a bit, sitting in the drivers seat listening to Spotify with Appleplay it did the same.
I gotta confirm my FordPass password then I'm going to delete the app and reinstall.

In Sync4 or possibly even in the app.
A while back I must have clicked a box in the app cause I was getting a notification every time a door was opened.
Took me a bit to find what I did. LOL

I have no problem checking that for you, but it may not happen for a few days.

So I pulled the maintainer off my snowmobile and used a set of alligator clips to connect it to the battery.
It immediately went into charge mode. It's been on for over two hours and has not yet gone to float.

Alright so it's been almost a year, and honestly the Zone Lighting had no real attraction for me, and it's now working again............... but not all on its own.
About two weeks ago I noticed that my interior light was not coming on as I opened my door on my way to work, that was just before the stupid time change. That was a few days in a row. Then one morning as I turned my truck off I got some kind of power save message. Over the summer I got a power save message in my wive's 2016 Fusion the day before her battery crapped out.
So I decided to ju8st breakdown and purchase a new battery. I bought a DieHard with 850 ccs which is 100cca more than the stocker. It was also slightly larger physically, but the blanket did stretch over and fit and no issues in the tray.
Interior lights have been fine, no messages since and a bonus the Zone lighting is back.
