Not nearly as important as the inside of the rocker panels.

Another spot that will have rust on your 11-14 is between the front bumper and grill. There is a plastic piece that runs between this for aero ( i think they should have just made the gaps tighter) and that piece rubs on the top of bumper in four spots. These four spots are completely though the paint on mine and rusted. I just apply fluid film every year. Not as big of a deal due to the bumper being disconnected from the body, however over time it might creep up to where you could see it from the front of truck.

Another potential rust spot for you steel body long timers.

This comes on the bottom A pillar inside the door jam when a rubber piece rubs. Over the years the rubber has completely rubbed through the clear coat and the paint is next. I realized this problem because for a while there has been a groaning noise every time I open or close the door. Naturally, you would expect it to be the hinge due to lack of grease etc, but after a very quick inspection I knew this was not the issue. During this investigation I discovered this paint issue.

I then applied my fluid film grease to this area to prevent any rust. This applied some "lubrication" to that area so there is no longer any groaning noise each time the rubber goes over the metal.

The top red circle shows the rubber seal I am talking about and the bottom red circle shows the top tip of the missing paint. There is A LOT more clear coat missing here but due to position, I was only able to take a picture of the top portion.

I had the open door moan almost since my truck was new. I’ve been using Vaseline on the weatherstrip to keep it lubed. But I did miss seeing the area that the paint was rubbing off. Being a California truck I doubt I’ll have the truck that long before it becomes a problem.
