Ive seen so many posts online and heard from some friends about the way to get the "BOV" sound out of these trucks... simply untwist the up pipe and zip tie it off on a radiator hose, cap the upper pipe to prevent debris and "PSHHHH"

I get it its simple, it doesn't throw codes due to the placement of the sensors, but does anyone actually have this done and does it provide any thing other than the sound to the truck?

Thursday Morning things to go Hmmm

do you still have it done? I wonder if there are any long term effects to doing it.
my last turbo'd car was an SRT-4 and everyone had the supersequential (cant spell that) BOV and such, I always used the mopar blue plate which sounded just like the open hose does lol

ive seen it as ghetto as a soda cap and electrical tape... but many ive seen have used a silicoln pipe cap that fits snug around the upper pipe from the intake and electrical tape just to be sure its sealed... the lower pipe stays open and just is pinned to a near by radiator hose to prevent rattling

I would imagine some high heat plumbing caps or somethng for a radiator hose due to temp ratings would prob be best.. When i get a min I will do some research on some of the write ups and see what is recommended.

I did this back in Nov. with the chair cap, and a hose clamp and no problems. Shouldn't need heat caps being several inches from radiator or other heat sources.

it is funny if you search this forum so many a year ago called it a terrible idea.. but it appears to be fine other than being a bit ghetto.

I can't find any good write ups.. maybe someone who has it done can drop some deets

My phone is charging, but I will go take pictures of my 2013 i've been using this mod for about 6 months now with no problems. I think it sounds awesome and my friends ( i'm 26 so were not that young) always get a kick out of it. They are always like make it do it, make it do it :p

I agree Greg some people will hate on it, but as long as it's not hurting your truck i'm the opinion you can do whatever the hell you want to your vehicle haha

I'll do a mini write up.

1. Put your wallet away because this is probably one of the cheapest mods you can do haha

2. Crawl under the front drivers tire, the side towards the front of truck. Turn the two white clips and pull the rubber protector out of the way.

3. You will be staring directly at the BOV now, twist the grey connector (I can't really remember how it comes off but its not too hard) and pull the tube away from the BOV.

4. Open the hood and locate the topside of that tube and disconnect the other side, same type of connection. It is directly below the connection of my AFE intake to the factory tube (on the bottom)

5. I used a water bottle lid with the threads carved out of it and some electrical tape. This is what it looks like after 6 months, it's not coming off haha.

6.And here is what the tube looks like out of the truck (Bonus re-gapped spark plugs)

its really as simple are reeaching down, untwisting the little grey connector.. capping the top hose and tying off the bottom hose.. I may even go as far as put a piece of Screen or mesh on the bottom hose to prevent anything from falling into the bottom hose.

Do you have the new ecoboost? It might be different I have no idea. Also do not leave that tube in there hanging from either connection. It is a bad idea. I left it hanging originally from the top connection and left it loose near the BOV and it vibrated. Fully remove it and put it back when you need too.

I have the new and the sensors appear to be in the same spot so no concerns about codes.

also the hose is pretty snug in there i was going to just tie it off to the radiator hose or something solid to prevent any vibrations

Correct, that is what they are doing

I have my Evolution X set to vent to atmosphere as well. However the stock tune is configured for recirculation, so of course the tune needed to be adjusted for the BOV to be VTA, so I would not get any hesitations, or flutter from the bov at partial throttle or, uphill accelerations.

Is anyone adjusting their tunes for this, or is this forced induction system function fine even though the plumbing has changed?

These trucks do not have a maf, so there is no worry dumping to atmosphere. Do a bit of research.

The only reason to to do VTA is to mess with the import owners like yourself, lol.

People mentioning leaving the tube on or something? The tube is held on by a quick connect on each end, literally 30 seconds to take off, why would you leave it on.

Greg, I did not remove mine at first and I left it hanging from the topside, it vibrated and it ended up causing that plastic nipple on the bottom of the intake break off and I had to replace the bottom part, it's also the reason I got a CAI because I had to take it all apart anyways. So for the 30 seconds it takes to remove it and about 45 seconds to reinstall I would just take it out for peace of mind.

Sounds like a nice semi-free mod.

I'm gonna do this for ****s and gigs:
