I'm literally blown away by the wet traction of these tires. Torrential downpour today and it takes a lot more effort to spin the tires like I honestly have to try to get them to spin.
Very happy

The ol Nitto Ridge Grapplers finally ran their course, just about 70,000 miles. I could have made it through the end of this next summer since I had around 10/32nds tread left but they were finally starting to get a little squirly in the rain.
Replaced with the all hyped up Falken Wildpeaks ATW4's. Same size as the Grapplers were (35/12.5/18)
5 tires total for the matching spare since I do 5 tire rotation.
These things are on national backorder but I have a great tire guy that found 20 within 30 miles from us. Also gave me an awesome cash deal.
A good friend of mine also does testing for the government for tires he said these tested very well only beat out by the new Nitto G3's in rain stopping.

I always liked the look of the ridge grappler because they looked really aggressive and they did very well four wheeling in all kinds of conditions. These ATW4's aren't as aggressive looking but they definitely look meatier in person.

So far wet traction is better, noise is about the same as my ridge grappler though which I'm a little surprised about but not a big deal.
These ATW4's are louder than the BFG KO2's I've ran before also.
We'll see if I get over 70,000 with these also

Agreed, same as me with these tires on the jeep wrangler the wife drivers...... should be getting a snow drive in soon as well,,,,,,, but wet, they perform fantastic.

Not sure why they subdued the sidewall pattern with the change from 3W to 4W… Falken says the 4th “w” is for “warranty”
The AT4w's sidewall is quite a bit more aggressive looking than the ATW3's. It's funny because I always thought that aTW3's looked like street with a tread that looked slightly off-road

What about snow? What I heard is that the AT4W focused less on snow and on improving other attributes.

But the KO3’s are now more snow focused and maybe run a softer compound that hurt in other areas.

I only ask because I had 2 sets of KO2’s and wouldn’t buy them again. The snow performance was pretty poor IMHO and I just found them to be somewhat average otherwise. I always heard the AT3W was much better in snow and as good everywhere else.

I've seen a lot of guys grabbing onto that TFL test they did with the wranglers and that one Australian guys test but real world experience from a few guys I know they both said they've noticed no difference in snow traction with the AT4's compared to the atw3's they ran before and one of them ran the atw3's then Ko3's and said he still prefers the atw4. I e seen several reviews where they praise the AT4w's in the snow also 🤷🏼‍♂️ I agreed with you on the ko2's, I thought they were decent at a lot of stuff but great at none and really not great in the rain.
I literally just got back from the snow a few hours ago and I was really impressed with these at4w's in what I was able to try them out in. That was only about an hour or two of snow driving though so not a lot.

You took the words right out of my mouth,,, I was going to reference TFLs test and then what I have seen on video and read on the jeep forums seem to support these do perform well in the snow ......

because I have the addiction bad I'm changing up my system some.
At this point I'm just chasing extra points in SQ competitions but the changes are also beneficial for every day daily listening. (Which is crazy because my system sounds absolutely amazing right now as it is but it truly is a rabbit hole)

Phase one I Swapped out my Audiofrog GB60's (6.5") midbass speakers for some DynAudio 172 (8") midbass speakers. These DynAudio do something special that's hard to explain, they're ran by some of the best SQ vehicles around (two guys who are national champions multiple years) one of those guys helped me install today at the one and only Scott Welch's shop today Audiointensity.
Scott 3D printed the 8" speaker adapters and is also building me a box for a Audiomobile Encore 4415 15" sub that will be replacing my two JLTW3's in my MTI Acoustics enclosure. Super pumped!

Also a picture of some hardware I took home last weekend from my first SQ Comp of the new year.

Image

Between the two doors there's about 14 pounds of duct putty, this is used to add mass which also helps cut down on resonance. It's applied around the speaker grill on the plastic door card and around the speaker adapter that's pictured here on the metal door itself
Image

The 8 inch midbass fit like a glove, couldn't be more perfect.
Image

Perfect fit first try, Scott wanted me to do a test run to see what he was going to have to adjust then re-print the adapters but he nailed it right out the gate.

Crazy how little the enclosure is for the giant 15 inch subwoofer but these subwoofers are so efficient they only need 1.25 ft.³ of airspace, Scott gives about 1.6 though he said that that's about the sweet spot. Kind of cool I'm gonna have half of my floorboard back again also going to this enclosure/subwoofer from my MTI Acoustics full length.

Got back to the mainland and spent today down at the shop with the guys at Audio intensity so we could finish up the enclosure. I think it came out great!

Audio Intensity is now offering this as a complete package for the F series trucks on their website, comes with a 2.5' rear seat lift too. Pretty sweet, only company making a production drop in 15" sub for out trucks.

Still loving this truck just as much as a first day. Just got back from about 1000 mile round-trip up highway 101 Redwood Coast and all around. Locked out 10th gear and occasionally put it in sport mode and just let er eat up them mountain passes. Had a really bad headwind all the way there so averaged about 13 MPG, on the way back it wasn't as bad and was able to get closer to 15 MPG.
Just realized I didn't get any good pictures of the truck on the coast /:

Apparently I never entered my last oil change into Ford pass or my other app so I thought it had been a little over 5000 miles since last change. I picked up oil on the way home to get it changed today since I have another shorter trip this weekend for a sound quality competition, that's when I noticed the mileage that I always put on the oil filter that it's changed, it's only been 2000 miles lol oh well everyone knows I love fresh oil in this beast.

I don't know how you do it without mudflaps...😊
I just can't do mudflaps, also a big reason is I've torn one or two off before on other trucks that I took off road /4wheeling one actually pulled the whole fender down with it 😳

Knock on wood I've been pretty lucky so far as far as the rock chips… I'm sure I just jinxed myself though lol.

Something I noticed with these Falken wild peaks is they do grab some gravel but they don't throw them out all over the place once I get on the road, the ones that do stick just stay there until I remove them with my pocket knife. I know if I had any more offset it would be a different story though I'm sure.

The ko2's I ran in the past were horrible for throwing rocks/gravel once I got to pavement, I would always just grit my teeth and hope for the best as far as destroying the side of my truck.

You just need the right ones, Mine hang low and have never been an issue but I get it.

Ol Matilda and sound system brought home some more hardware home today. Good times and food and friends also.

Some of my non SQ competitor friends think I'm absolutely nuts because I'm seriously considering swapping out and doing a total redo of the sound system to kick it up several notches more for competitions.
This is a ridiculous addiction/hobby lol

Eww wee big stuff going on for ol Matilda.

Been missing my camper shell occasionally more so for when I wanna do spur of the moment one or two night camping trips in the bed. I was researching different alternatives that are easy to remove since I have to use my bed so much for hauling supplies/tools and larger items to and from job sites. I came across these inflatable shells, wasn't too sure at first but after seeing good review after good review I decided to research more. I found one company that I didn't really care for the looks of it then I found another company called Miles Runner and they had just what I was looking for and at almost half the price. Got it installed last week and have put about 100 miles on the truck since then, no movement at all at Highway speeds or weird sounds. So far I'm really impressed! Best part is, I can remove it in 10 minutes.

Then I finally nailed down a new complete set up for the sound system with the help of my sound quality gurus. I will be tearing out my current set up this Friday and the new amplifiers/DSP and amplifier rack will be going in this Sunday. Hoping to get to the new tweeters and mids Sunday as well but that may be a little longer since we have to do some modifications to my current MTI Acoustics pillars/sails pods since I won't be going with a larger mid and the tweeters are just a slightly larger circumference. A little crazy since state finals are in September so I may only have one show in between now and then to get feedback to adjust the tune for but that's the kind of knucklehead I am lol.

Oh man! I want one of these now. I was looking at soft toppers recently but these Miles Runner ones are pretty cool.
We had bad luck luck with the Sportz tent last summer so so I’ve been thinking about something similar.

They're basically the same material and designed as those standup inflatable paddle boards. My buddy was looking at it yesterday and even touching it he was surprised it was inflatable. VERY firm.
I think it's also about 40 pounds total maybe 45 pounds
