Finally something useful on the Apple Watch to give me a reason to start wearing it again! Care to share how you achieved this feat?
Well, as soon as kiddo is home from kindergarten later, I’ll get him to show me again and I’ll share! 🤠

I have been getting a low 12v battery warning on my 2023 Powerboost Lariat instrument panel. Took it in to the Ford dealership and they did a full check on it and a full charge. They told me the battery checked out fine and could find nothing wrong. 2 days later I started getting the warning again. Then I started getting a notice on the 12" screen when I turned the truck off saying "Please turn ignition off or start engine" acting as if it is in ACC mode. Now I'm not getting either warning and everything seems fine. Any ideas?

This was happening to me also. I believe it may be related to my comments below:
I just took my 2022 Ford F50 Lariat Powerboost to my local Ford dealer. They quickly corrected a couple of Ford recalls which were minor. They spent the next day figuring out why my welcome approach exterior lights would not work any more, and also why my interior cab lights would not come on when I opened the door.
THEY SOLVED IT by working directly with a Ford manufacturer's online help service.
Turns out I mainly make short trips locally and sometimes my truck just sits in my garage for days.

THE ISSUE: this makes it almost impossible for my under the hood battery to charge to a proper level.
SOLUTION: They charge my under the hood battery.
RESULT: my welcome approach exterior lights now some on when I approach the vehicle, and also the interior cab lights turn on when I open a door.
HOWEVER: I was warned that this will start happening again after my under the hood battery discharges itself doing what it does if I don't drive it long enough to charge it fully.
THEREFORE: it was suggested that perhaps if I opened the hood in my garage perhaps once every couple of weeks or even once a month and attached a small 12v trickle charger overnight that this would recharge my battery enough for the next several weeks and keep the convenience features working properly.
The Ford service dept said that the vehicle is smart enough to turn off the convenience features so it has enough power to start the engine (around 30% or so).
And no, I can't find a gauge anywhere (they are all electronic) that displays what my under the hood battery charge is.
If any of you know where such a display might be, please advise.

Please don't take offense to this, but I can't help but eyeroll that they called and got guidance regarding a 12V battery being below the threshold for the truck.

Especially since they have had to have seen this ONE THOUSAND TIMES on 2021-2023 F150s

It's by far the most common culprit of various issues on these trucks.

That's the $million dollar question!

By the way, you can actually cheat the charging algorithm, on the Powerboost at least, by setting the HVAC fan speed at 5 or above.
I know, it sounds crazy, but if you are monitoring the charging current and you see it drop down around 12.7V once the SOC is at ~80%, you can turn the fan speed up to 5 and witness the charging current jump back up to 14V+. Thus achieving a higher SOC!

And oddly enough, the key fob has to be in the truck or the charging current will drop back down.

There's SO MUCH going on in the battery management system on these. I read that there are well over 100 tables in the battery management code.
Voltage my man, voltage, not current.

Voltage and current are equally at play in maintaining a low voltage power source. (battery)
You have gotten your terms confused:

Charging current will never be 12.7 VOLTS.

Ahhh.
I see what you caught.....

The OBDlink dashboard is monitoring both the AMPs in/out of the LV battery(s) AND the voltage of the LV

I didn't type with clarity, as you mentioned. Should have been

"I was monitoring the charging current (amps) and noticed the voltage drop to 12.7V......"

The fan-speed trick still applies. :)

Hello there, I apologize for not being able to provide any assistance.

I recently purchased a car last month, and unfortunately, I encountered a similar issue to the one you are experiencing. My vehicle is a V8 XLT.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could share any updates regarding your current situation.

There is a recent update, at least for the Powerboost, that is basically a wholesale change to the previous low voltage (AGM) charging strategy. And it's far more than a tweak. It's quite robust, actually.

So if you have a Powerboost and you have been battling the lethargic battery management, you're in for some relief!

About time too.

Hopefully Ford is doing the same for the alternator equipped Gen14 trucks too.

Hello,

Thank you for your prompt response.

To be completely honest, I did not comprehend anything you just said.

If you could kindly simplify your explanation, I would greatly appreciate it.

He owns a Hybrid powerboost truck. Lots of people have complained about how the truck decides to charge the 12v starting battery.

Ford is able to update over the air. The most recent update keeps the battery better charged then the previous calibration.

You would only notice if you were getting lots of low voltage warnings (FordPass) and experiencing the truck in deep sleep often.
Otherwise you'd only notice if you were monitoring the Low Voltage with gadgets.

I'm amazed it's such a drastic swing in the direction of keeping the battery at a higher SOC. I would have expected Ford to just tweak a little. But they outright ate crow on this one and basically acknowledged that they killed a lot of AGM batteries the last 3 years on the Powerboost.
I wonder if warranty claims is actually behind this maybe?

Very well could be, easily remedied when you can mass rollout a solution without even needing to get someone to bring in their vehicle.
