I took care of that truck like I was going to own it forever. I really do wish the next owner could appreciate it for what it really is. But how could they?

If someone on this forum bought it, I'd GIVE them most of what got removed. Just because it would be such a great story.

That includes some sweet tunes too. The power kind. The other kind of tunes are already in the truck :)

KRs are more plentiful and better priced in your neck of the woods. But I am down to Houston on the regular for work so wouldn’t mind buying while there, which is why it came up in my search.

Could get real weird!!

That's THE ONE!

That's about $3000 less than my trade in value they gave me for it too. (which just proves that what side the equation trade/sell that the customer sees might be very different than what the dealership is really doing. Especially since I got barely squat off the MSRP of the Platty)

Anyways, I can vouch for THAT truck. Runs fantastic. Has new fluids in motor/tranny/both differentials/transfer case. All about 1000 miles ago and all Scamsoil products. [emoji1787] I would have NEVER done all that if I knew what I didn't know.

And did I mention $15,000 worth of sound deadening and stereo equipment. Tuned by Kris Pate himself. (for those who know him)

Not ONE scratch or dent anywhere. The plastic grill has the typical frontal attack wear, of course.

And since they stripped my aftermarket suspension off it, you get brand new Ford OEM suspension and brakes all the way around.

Heck of a deal. I might have to go buy it?

The only time we get excited about seeing our ex-girlfriend >errrr.....previous truck-lol
Last week I had my girls with me when I spotted in my rear view, "The Titan". . in all its glory (around 4k of aftermarket goodies)
coming our way.
I pointed out....hey here comes my ole truck; the wife chimes in>not YOUR truck?-lol
My daughter drove it her senior year in high school....she saw it and blurts out> man that was a fun truck!
Still on the road...and has to have like 250k+ miles on it.

Meaz's wife is a hoot. Keeps that fella straight.

Yes GearHead, 3:31's and was strange considering the towing kit that came on the truck. Good thing it was a 10r80 and I didn't tow like Meaz.

One thing for sure is that when tuned it would pull that taller gear, which if you have the juice a taller gear will get you down the road just fine.

@snakebitten....holy crap, my wife the enforcer> seriously-true?-lol
Listen....I'm in trouble 24/7
I open the hood on the Boost.....she wonders over and says> that looks new when did that happen? What's that....[emoji848][emoji6]
It sure would be nice if the misses was a gearhead. Heck the first date I tool her on was to the drag races! Come to find out several years later she hated it?-lol
Ohh but wait theirs much more.....save it for the campgrounds and beverages[emoji16]
My truck is down right now and she's NOT HAPPY.....I've been doing a lot of "Honey Do's" around the house and at work-lol

That's great!
So what's the very first modification you going to do?
I think my first mod was bedliner. Then I transferred the bed mat from the previous truck.

OH, and threw the toolbox/storage in the bed since it couldn't scratch anything at that point.

The new body style is growing on me daily, but that's probably the result of it earning my respect more and more as I use it. It's first homedepot shot:

modifications planned now as I have the parts in the garage:

- weathertech floor mats front and rear

- weathertech no holes mud flaps all around

- UNDERCOVER ArmorFlex Hard Folding Truck Bed Tonneau Cover

- got factory sprayed in liner, but I want to get a mat to put over it

- shorten or get shorter antenna, so it doesn’t hit garage door

And, start the “brain modifications” to learn about all the tech stuff in it!

Thanks.

Perfect list of firsts. Protect the wear areas.
Your truck might come with both the floor carpets and the Ford rubber mats. Admittedly the front rubbers done have enough coverage, but the rear floor mat is pretty good.

I'm considering the soft rubber Husky front mats.

Just picked up the truck! First impression, if you just look at gas pedal you are doing 50 mph.

I have to spend some time learning about all the features. Dealership offered no instructions.

dealership tried to renege on the deal, since they said they could sell it for MUCH more.

fortunately, it is in our driveway now!

Silver Beauty! Congratulations. Consult with Snake as he has been tinkering with his PowerBoost for a couple months or so....
Big fun to be had no doubt!![emoji106][emoji6]

In defense of the dealership, unless your salesman drove one for a MONTH, he/she couldn't possibly have a clue of what to tell you.

And I think I just defined the minimum amount of time you'll need to "spend some time learning about all the features" [emoji2957]

Of course you don't have to figure everything out. You CAN just drive it point&shoot style like every vehicle you have ever had, but if you are someone who wants to know how this thing works and what role can I play as the pilot..... It's awesome!

Gorgeous truck too.

I'm about a month (1300 miles) into the swap from my 2018 KingRanch and so the data-comparison is starting to shape up. So I thought I'd share a few things as I go and maybe it will have value, maybe not. :)

I can tell you a few of my favorite Gen2 3.5 Ecoboost/10r80 differences, as well as anything I don't like as much.

Top billing is the increase in oil pressure at idle and low-torque demand cruising! Yaw have suffered my oil pressure rant for more than 3 years, so I won't re-hash, but this truck idles and cruises at 36-40psi. SO MUCH BETTER than 22-26. (I fully admit that I have no expertise on the subject, but oil pressure in the low 20's at 70mph would creep me out)

Second billing is the ECT Temps. It's already nasty hot down here in the tropic of coastal Texas. 95-100F with the heat index hitting 105F on the trucks ambient temp gauge. But where the KingRanch operated in the 208-216F ECT range, this truck is in the 187-196F range. I'm stunned. I really really want to know what Ford did?

Note: I haven't towed anything yet, so please don't think I am implying........
I'm only saying that this truck stays below 200F in typical daytoday use.

Obviously I do not know what role the electric motor assist plays in the ECT's. I DO however know that it is part of the equation in what I describe as an irritating clumsiness from a dead start in "Normal Mode". The truck attempts to be an EV truck, but since that electric motor isn't strong enough to provide the torque request of "let's go", the ecu changes its mind and says "let's go ICE", at about the same moment that the transmission has been told to skip 2nd gear and go to 3rd. The whole thing is just clumsy. Irritating.
Ironically, Normal mode doesn't skip 4th and 6th like the KingRanch did. Which is GREAT! Other than the clumsy start, Normal mode is actually just fine for normal driving. Go figure. That's definitely a substantial change in Fords 10r80 strategy.
There ARE 2 different things that I can do to mitigate the stumble. First I can just be intentionally aggressive with the throttle from a stop and force the truck to completely give up on the idea of even trying to be EV. This also causes Normal Mode to use 2nd gear, therefore the truck doesn't skip any gears, just like Sport mode on the KingRanch. Or I can take off intentionally like an old geezer and the truck will not only use 2nd gear, but may even stay in EV mode for a little longer and as a result have some momentum before it switches to ICE, which is completely transparent most of the time.

By the way, Sport Mode seems to nix EV altogether and the truck is a completely normal ICE truck with a 10-speed, albeit with considerably increased tip-in throttle mapping. Even more aggressive and "Sporty" than the ICE only KingRanch.

In summary, increased oil pressure, decreased ECT's, and a Normal mode that is better AND worse than the previous truck.

From what I have heard, the actual motor itself is the same Gen2 3.5 Ecoboost between the two trucks. Including the cheap cast pistons and poor ring-pack. But there does seem to be significant changes in the software at least. And there's definitely a substantial engineering difference in the 10r80 to accommodate the Hybrid hardware and the re-engineered transmission cooling.

So glad we have people committed like this.

I was surprised with the white letters, too. At least not the “H” brand that came on my last F150 In 2013. I don’t remember the exact name.

I looked At gas tank cover and there was no way to open it. Turns out, you push a dashboard button and it opens after a 15 second delay! It would have been helpful to get a real manual. Sitting in the truck looking for stuff in the manual is not the best. For example, there’s a slide lever with two buttons marked + and - below it; I still dont know what they do.

I did get the self filling gas tank option, though. we took the truck on a drive after Picking it up. Truck said 488 miles to empty. After we drove it about 150 miles, it said 491 miles to empty when we got home. 😀
