I think there are plenty of other threads on this. My memory tells me Mobil1 and Amasol are the top two.
Oh and there is something with purple people talk about.... Gd it... I can't remember the name... Not sure on that one.
OH, I agree with you. I use Amsoil in all my other applications including my Harley.
Yes I do use the Extended Protection Mobil-1.
I'm going to have an analysis done because I'm not seeing any signs of diluted oil in my truck.
I run the 0-30 in the winter and then a 5-30 in the summer but I've been pondering going to a 5-40 during the summer.
Rotella T in bikes, gokarts, lawn tractors, tractor. Kendall semi synthetic in the Hyundai and the gone it not forgotten Tacoma because that's what the Goodyear independent retailer in town uses. Rockin' Ruby will go to Ford for full synthetic at 5K (now at 2K).
Motorcraft 5w-30 full synthetic after 4000 mi. break-in on Motorcraft 5w-30 synth blend. I saw a 10 mpg increase in fuel economy and plus 34hp and 147 lb. ft. On the dyno. The engine idles virtually silently and the turbos shreek like my ex wife after I got my child support lowered. This sh** is awesome!
hmm interesting, and yes you guys are right. its is specifically on the cap. I'll inquire this with my original service guy on Mon. looking at my first change it was 5/30. I think the tech F*ucked up and gonna have then redo it.
Again, Ford filters are really good. The only thing better is mobil 1 EP and Amsoil. Royal Purple makes a good one too. The only reason they are better over OEM is that the material is synthetic.
I was running a fram ultra synthetic filter. When my engine start up rattle started. The anti drain back valve failed thus allowing the prime to bleed down over night on the filter. They are ****.
Rotella 5w40 T6 in the summer and Mobil1 Synthetic 5w30 Extended in the winter, I never go over 5000 miles. Motorcraft filter. Have avoided FRAM my whole life, I laugh when I see FRAM oil filters on performance engines. I guess I laugh at FRAM in general.
I used to run T6 in my Legacy GT but after a while I started to have a few *odd* engine shakes. I'm not blaming the oil at all, but more of the opensource tuner that attempted to tune the car. After a few months of having it tuned by him, I heard of numerous people having catastrophic engine failures from his tunes.
I've been having trouble finding NOACK, TEOST, or TBN figures for motorcraft's full syn, but some reading on bobistheoilguy suggests that it's very similar to or the same as Kendal gt-1 euro. Since that looks like a good oil for the ecoboost I'm switching to motocraft full syn if its significantly cheaper than the mobile 1 I've been using. If it's about the same I'll stick with mobile 1 ep or regular
I pay $21.47 for a gallon jug of rotella t6and u get a 5$ mail in rebate when I buy it at Walmart !! Awesome oil, started using it when my tuner suggested it!!
I hope you are buying more than the 1 gallon jug when you change your oil.
