I would really like to see some of your guys CV angles.

Here’s a couple pictures of mine for reference and the angle of the pictures that I would love to see of yours. 6" lifts would be great but also would like to see Lifted or leveled pictures.

I appreciate it!

I would call the suspension shop or some reputable 4x4 shops and ask them what is safe limit on CVs to not cause excessive wear.

This is also why I did not drop my 4x4 in front, i didn't want to worry or mess with the cv angles.

yeah I already did that and also have an email sent to bds.

So are you leveled or lifted? Do you have pictures?

Got a hit on Facebook, and this guy tells me there’s nothing wrong with his angles [emoji23] [emoji52]

Awesome thanks man.
Pretty much what mine looks like since they use the same 4 1/2 inch drop down crossmember for the 4 inch and 6 inch lift like most companies. So basically it’s like I have a 4 inch lift with a 2 inch level on top.
But of course the new steering knuckles correct the other angles along with the upper control arm

that picture looks familiar, think you may have replied to one of my other post on the pages.

I probably already asked you but is your ground to center bottom front fender measurement about 43 inch?
Seems like everyone with the 43 inches has fairly straight cv angles.

(Not too ugly) so just a little ugly? [emoji6]

Without my RAS installed I'm about 1/2 lower in the rear, really think I may remove them temporarily and have the front adjusted down to same height as rear then. Afterwards I'll throw the RAS back on then I'll have a little less than an inch of rake and even better angles.

Sorry. I was just posting what happens with each kind of lift. You have the best kind of lift for keeping your CV angles correct. Until you crank the strut up. Which now is changing the CV angles.

Does the BDS actually lower the diff 6” ? I thought you mentioned you cranked up your strut.

Ah ok.
I didn’t crank my strut up and Actually just now got an email back from BDS in regards to me asking if the measurements of the coil overs out of the box were right for a 6 inch lift. They said the measurements I gave them is
Image

what they’re supposed to be. ( i’ve seen some post where people have said theirs were a little higher or lower out of the box)
So looks like I’m good to go as far as that.

I think BDS also uses the same drop down crossmember for the 6 inch and 4 inch like most of the companies, I did measure it and it is pretty much 4 1/2 inches.
so I’m pretty sure if I would’ve had the 4 inch lift my CV angles would be flat, as in the 4 inch coil overs.

I think I am going to do what you said you would do as well, just have them lower the front by half an inch and just that little drop should give me a pretty significant change in CV angle.

Just got this email back from bds when I asked if the same drop down crossmember was used for both kits and asked about my angles.

I will say they are very prompt with replying, so far Customer Service has been great.

went by to visit my buddy who is the sales manager at the dealership around here, they have a few 6 inch lifted and leveled trucks on the lot. Was kind of surprised by these angles but I guess it’s good. This is just a 2.5 inch level BDS

I'll fill my own thread up with info and pictures, I guess

Heres a procomp lift that was there. 6"

Not the best picture and not sure if it’s the exact angle you’re looking for.

It’s funny because they use a couple different shops for their lifts/set ups And that one with the procomp was done by the "cheaper" shop

I forgot to look but I noticed a lot of the lifts that are done by the cheaper shop they also cut out at least the front crash bars whereas the better quality shop, in my opinion, doesn’t have to do any of that and no rubbing issues. Since I know the sales manager he just hook me up with the so-called better quality shop and I went straight to them and got everything done for much cheaper.

I’m now thinking that’s because while those lifts they use lower drop down crossmembers which keep your CV angles closer to OEM they don’t give you as much ground clearance and wheel clearance as the BDS which also gives more clearance but Slightly more angled CVs

Well I appreciate the pictures from the four of you.
Would be great to see a few more, interested in seeing some pics with leveling coilovers too.

I know there's a few of you out there.

Are my Fox2.5's considered leveling struts? [emoji12]

Yea, I leveled the truck with them. But my gorgeous King Ranch, on the outside, doesn't look all showroom shiny in the wheel wells like you guys. I live on an often wet and muddy dirt road.

I clean it up underneath when I rotate or switch wheels. With Covid requiring very little driving, I haven't rotated squat in months.

I do have those glamor shots in my old build thread though. [emoji6]

Lol
You guys seen the picture of me crawling under my truck, I’m approaching 50 [emoji15]
[emoji23]

It’s crazy I’ve been googling like nuts trying to find pictures of angles with bilstein's and fox leveling set ups.

But I definitely don’t want you guys straining your cookies for me over a picture haha.
i’m pretty positive now I’m going to have them lower the front a tiny bit, if they are willing to and don’t look at me like I’m nuts.

I should probably clarify, I am not concerned about the CV joint angles, IMO, they can easily take that and then some. My desire is around down-travel. I like to have as much down-travel as possible. It makes for a much more refined ride in the rough stuff and you can dial in the suspension for "larger" hits and not top out the shocks on the re-bound. It's just been my experience with pretty much anything with suspension and a motor. Obviously, there is a balance, with where your main ride height is in the stroke.

Well I sent a message to the guy at the shop and let them know I wanted to lower it so it’s a half an inch lower in the front, His reply kind of gave me the feeling he thought I was crazy or something. [emoji52] I mean I am but that’s beside the point. [emoji2957]
Which is a little irritating because when I got the lift they said if it wasn’t sitting how I liked they could lower the front a little bit. I guess we’ll just see what happens on the second when I bring it in and go from there

Lol I know I know

i’m just doing everything I can for longevity for this truck now. But you’re absolutely right. I love to overthink everything, I even overthink overthinking [emoji23]

I’ve even decided that I mainly only gonna run my 91 performance or performance towing tool for the most part, only gonna run my e30 tune Once in a great while.
